Thanks, guys, Im solving it with conversion to MPEG4, which plays just fine. Some quality loss can be seen, but most Dreams are in higher resolution than my screens res anyway, so no biggie. At least I dont have to uninstall another codec pack and install yet another.

64. Codec files are from 64b Ultimate. I tried registering them with regsvr32 command, and it failed. But since I deal with 64b system, registration command could be different. Any idea if this is the case, pls?
Greetings, I purchased and activated DeskScapes so I could run Dreams on my legal Vista Business. As the title says, problem is that Business version doesnt have MPEG2 codec - which kinda ruins the purpose of DeskScapes since, as I can see, most of the Dreams are coded in MPEG. The question is simple - where do I get compatible codec ( havent solved codec problem since I started using VLC as my player, so kinda lost the track of them ), or at least which codec can also
Good, the updated image is much better. But still - do you think you could be able to make the atmosphere border a little transparent? I think transparency would make it look even more realistic.
It has occurred to me that I may have this backward. The emptiness space should be on the top left where your icons would go. Maybe I'll reverse this dream to be "Good Night Earth" and follow the sunset around the Earth with the Earth rotating toward the camera instead of away.
I was just about to suggest that to you. But I don't think it's necessary to change the motive to Good Night, don't you think it would be far enough just
fair enough Intri, i see your point as well. maybe one day you will have the $$$ and subscribe and enjoy the full benefits of the site, i promise you, you will not regret it I'll be happy to... Perhaps in time, I'm definitely not studying University to stuck in that stupid factory... But that's somewhat off topic already ( not that the topic was not exhaused... ).
i dont think 20 bucks is too much to pay anyway, especially with all the other goodies u get, not just the unlimited downloads I see your point, but the truth is that I'm a student and 20 bucks is more than 1/4 of what I can earn with my temporary job a month in my country ( there's not much time to work ). That's why I'm really unwilling to pay for what I can get free. And if I can't get it free, it's
Like it or lump it,you will have to pay some kales to support this site. You're right in everything but the quoted sentence - I don't have to do anything. I just wanted to know whether StarDock sees it the way I think it does or not. There's nothing personal in that, no anger, no "demanding my right to get everything free" etc.
Another person detached from reality and sucked into the whole 'everyone owes me free stuff' mentality. I don't think so. Just being a little sorry that at times when it's normal for sites offering some content to provide at least some kind of unlimited access, there are still some good ones that don't. But that doesn't mean I don't wish you success. You deserve it.
Who pays for the development of WC the bandwidth from which you have received 1.4 gb the servers and hard drives on which that 1.4 gb of data was stored the people to ensure that these storage/transmission mediums continue to be stable What about the software you're running. Creating this software isn't a job taking a short
Actually, this is incorrect. That IS illegal... What is legal and what is not is relative... We all live in different countries with different laws. What is illegal in the US can be easily legal in any other country on the world.
The policy of downloads on WinCustomize has since been updated since that original post was made on Neowin. Past customers have a 500mb limit, so it was stated in the subscribers page that non-subscribers might be subject to limits inthe future. Ok, got the idea. But to be honest, do you really think that is a good step at all? WC si definitely damn good site, but I don't think many people are willing to pa
Very well, I accept. But what other way to explain this forum ( http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t540026.html ) than the ona that downloading free content is unlimited for registered users?
Hi people. It's no longer possible for me to download anything, although I am registered member. First I though mz downloading from WC is just over, unless I purchase something ( which, with all due respect, I won't ), but right now I found a forum where some guy ( calling himself Island Dog - seemed to be guy from StarDock itself ) claimed registering is free and that no one should have any problem downloading free items. The point is, the only thing I get when trying to down
My opinion is that you're probably running Dreams that use .WMV instead of .MPEG. WMV has a lot higher CPU cost for decoding. Other than that, I would say that as the video drivers get better, the CPU use will go down. I might be wrong, but I thought that's exactly what MPEG hardware acceleration on graphic cards is for. To take over decoding operations so the CPU doesn't have to do anything with the
That's easy to answer ( at least I hope so... ). Dreamscene is not finished yet. It's not optimalized for GPU usage.
The terms are simple.. acheive Master Skinner status. That much I did understand, but another question is much simplier - what does that mean? Where can I find any information about that status?
In addition, an SDK will be made available so that other people can create dynamic content. Whether those people choose to make them free or charge for them will depend on them (assuming they've achieved master access). Well, does that mean that any user can create a .Dream file and request money for downloading? If so, what terms are there to do so?
Funny...that's EXACTLY the upgrade I was considering next.......century. Approximately.
how long is the sunset before it loops and resets? would be cool if they had a dynamic version so it does the whole day with sun rise and sunset along with the system clock. or an even cooler idea: live weather desktop. have that same image but with rain, clouds, night, day... And the only machine capable of running that smoothly would be scientific cluster with 1024 processors at least.<img src="http
Well, guy, you definitely do have sense of humor... I always wanted to have washing machine on my desktop, it's really sexy view. For less IQ equipped - I'm just kidding.
Well, not bad at all. I agree with others - I can't stand moving camera on my background as well and it was apperent that this video was created of a panoramatic photo. I believe one scene with moving objects would be pretty good. But I realize It would be more less impossible to create such screen from nature.
Hm... I wonder if this 3D content will be interactive..? Doubtful... It would almost loose it's sense of being animated wallpaper. But the truth is it could be voluntary option... Definitely not a bad idea to make DreamScene interactive, but who's going to develop it? I doubt Microsoft is and no one else has access to required source codes.
