If you loose your Titan, you have to pay its large cost to rebuild it, plus of course you don't have its firepower or abilities available for the entire duration it takes to rebuild it, which puts your planets and fleet at a large risk - subsequent losses almost guaranteed. This is almost not a recoverable situation in PvP already. I don't see why people want to punish the loss of a Titan even more.

Wail may be slightly too strong if the Advent player is sitting in a choke point with its capitals (especially carriers) and wail. It's a really hard-to-overcome obstacle and may lead to a fleet loss the Advent player can exploit massively. On the other hand, TEC's economic advantage also is quite extreme. Wail probably does not put _enough_ of a dent into a TEC player's fleets on larger maps to even partly offset a TEC player's stronger economy and ship

[quote who="davidabc66" reply="18" id="3128844"] Any situation where you can delay an expense with no consequence creates an opportunity in the form of spending that money on something else that will further your goals. Obviously, like you said you're not going to want to spend all of it, as that may delay your construction if you don't earn enough back in time, but some of it? Absolutely. It's not something that most people bother with all that much, but when you

You don't have enough time to re-earn the investment until the next Titan stage is due. And stalling the Titan research / construction mid-way into the whole affair isn't an option now, is it?

I do not believe there is a point to having 4 techs to build titans as-is now. It seems like a handicap for people bad at basic arithmetic, and a boring chore for the rest of us. Why? Having an un-built Titan locks up a large amount of resources for no gain, so there simply is no point starting to build a Titan unless you know you have/will it all funded... at which point you will start the Titan construction and Techs 2 through 4 more or less simultaneously. There's no re

Months spent on getting over the 2GB memory limit on 32 bit? I'm a bit surprised that this is worth the effort vs. just creating a 64-bit release. I'd think the time saved could be spent with great effect on some additional mod features. Maybe support for huge research trees and more complex ship construction menus (lists) that can handle many times the current number of ships? Or maybe some multi-threading.

I played EVE for years and I just kinda suspended it for a while now, mostly due to RL. In my experience, EVE is a good pasttime when you actually WANT to kill time, but not a game you can use well to relax. If you already have a stressful job life and all, this game probably will not work for you. This is because the game rewards you most for playing it as though it was a job, you are best off if you calculate everything, if you can be present whenever you're needed, and you need to

I had this issue every time I played with my brother on LAN (problem free connection), in Entrenchment 1.041 and Diplomacy 0.90, with and without the Distant Stars Mod. The game is just out of sync between players, some events like the other playing with a capital ship or producing of some new units or sending resources seem to still be registere on both endsd, but pirates and which ships/planets are alive and whom they belong to all that is horribly wrong between the games. There doesn't need to be a native Linux version... in fact that's only economically somehow viable for OpenGL based games. For DirectX based games Wine is fine. If Stardock / Ironclad wanted increased Linux compatibility over what they have now, they could hire Codeweavers or Transgaming to do it, or contribute patches to Wine themselves. Oh and not glad to hear you can't afford the game because you're from "down under", so don't take this as me trying to annoy you or something

Maldon: You're wrong. The realization that Vasari RA is overpowered comes from exploiting it, and I have the feeling that at least most of the people who suggested fixes actually did know what they were talking about. (Except the labs based fix, to me seems just as un-viable as destroying gates currently is, without an array of other changes. Disabling scuttle for one would again be a must). Of course, you have no guarantees that we've not only played against bad players (

Sorry, but only the best players can tell us how to make their strategies harder to imitate and give them weak points that are fun to play with. Otherwise, the game will be, especially for worse players, an endless repetition of some imitation of a "pro's" most efficient simple tactic. Which sucks, especially against AI, cause they have zero chance to actually learn a counter.

Stuff like this. Imbalances introduced through usability & clickfests will also only lead to AutoIT-scripters and their kind to h
