@ DragonBasically when I say pirates , I mean those torrent pirates. Im not refering to anyone who is complaining here. Because 1.1 is strictly through impulse , im hoping that its security is tight enough that pirates wont be able to patch their pirate versions to 1.1. They have done so for 1.05. From this standpoint I support impulse. Because having a game that ive legitimately bought being better and more stable then one downloaded from a torrent gives me the satisfaction over pirates.

Looks like i'll be dusting off my copy of sins come mid-july... yay!
This is hardly a major exploit, and has been known for ages upon ages. But considering it doesn't get you anything it's not even an exploit. If you pad your online stats with it but play with someone and get your butt handed you do, they'll just laugh that much more because of your score
I dunno man, myself and many others try to filter who gets into more experienced games based on wins/losses and especially total played games (wins + losses). Padded stats makes t
"it's stupid" "you're only cheating yourself" "who cares about numbers" "blah blah blah" Regardless of the above points, should it not still be fixed?
I guess to get acheivments...?
ohhhh, you mean what is the BENEFIT of doing this. I forgot that most sins players play single player. Ok obviously in single player this is pretty useless (outside of the aforementioned achievements... but who cares about those, honestly?) However, in multiplayer, this is a "hack" in the most classic sense, since these "instant victories" show up in your official ICO stats... so it is basically a way to pad your stats wit
.....Why would you do this?
Because it was something so obvious your reaction is... "no way, that CAN'T be possible," so of course you have to try it... and lo and behold it worked :p In fact, you don't even need other human players. You can just load AI into the empty slot(s), set the AI(s) to your team, start the game, and BAM... instant victory. Perhaps it was bad to "let the cat out of the bag" so to speak, but this is pretty obviously somethin
So I can't believe this has never been tried before, and wasn't caught in beta: If everyone joins the same team, with teams locked, the host can still launch and you get an instant victory. duh... I know 1.05 is just around the corner, but hopefully a fix for this can get worked in :p
RIP Malice, we barely knew thee :SNIFF!:
Spam beats spam, what a strat!
I would expand that by saying that upgraded, balanced, and well microed spam beats spam... still not much of a strat, but heh such is the reality of Sins for now...
If there's one thing that annoys me is the balance of the Heavy Cruiser. Ok, I understand that it's the most expensive cruiser in the game, so it better be damn good, but it has no effective counter.
Illum spam w/ shield/hull/damage upgrades and Deceptive Illusion + guardians (WITHOUT repulse) + mothership w/ Malice/Shield Regeneration is quite effective against HC :) On the one hand you complain that HC have no viable counter, then you complain that the units wh
1. Ship Upgrades (offensive). Thoughts on this? Worth its salt? (e.g. the Illumi Beam Upgrades (to30%))
Regarding advent and illuminators, I would say that early-mid game shield, hull, and guardian upgrades are much more important. The first two beam upgrades are expensive, and only increase the average beam damage (if you look in game) one point per upgrade, whereas the first few shield and hull upgrades improve each by about a hundred points, and
my clan, The Galectic Empire
you know, it took me a min to figure out just who the hell "Galactic Empire" was.. I got so used to just calling you guys "GE" (I dont think I ever actually knew what it stood for).. and Arc spell your name right you noob.
I'd love one, especially since I had my hopes up before release given the fact that the FAQ on the site incicates that there would be one (and still does).
whoah... i had never actually noticed that in the faq before. From the Multiplayer section of the FAQ:
Q. What is the maximum number of players allowed within a game? A. Up to 10 players may be present as participants or observers.
Maybe this means we can expect it for 1.1? I
How killer awesome would it be if you could observe any game in progress? Find a game, see who's playing, and load it up as you would a replay... except it's live... I dont think it would have to be anything fancy... same options as replay has (except the fast forward... duhhhhh), and chat disabled for spectators... Lately, especially when most of the people i usually play with are in game, it would be hella cool to watch their game instead of just idling in lobby...
Probably just me but all I got from this thread is that Yinhes skilled Are you agreeing that the illum is imba ,but people should shutup about it cos you just got a headache? or are you saying it isnt imba , and infact people should shutup because they are wrong....
I do not think they are imba. The best counter (tho it is RARELY used) is... drum roll please... FLAK. Yes. Flak. The counter in 1.03 for all long range frigs is still the be
I am getting tired of beating players online with a well managed, upgraded, and microed illuminator/guardian/mothership fleet only to hear the tired excuse "illum are SOOO imba." Let's forget for a second that illums: -Require three research labs
-Are by far the most expensive long range frig to research ($800/100m/175c vs 400/0/25 for assailant and 600/50/100 for lrm researches)
-Are the second most expensive long range frig to pu
Well, let's be frank about online. Here's the problem.Games are to long: Well... This isn't a problem but the games general design and the way it's played out. But because games last so long, like 3-6 hours i find, i myself seem to have to leave... or someone else does. Which completely destroys the fun!!Crashing: Wow... if i crash because of mini dump one more time especially when i'm about to win i'm going to cry.Crashing is a huge problem, especially when games are hours long sometimes!
I have to disagree with your assement of Carriers and Flak. 4 Sovas at lvl 4 or better is a VERY nasty taskforce to see hop into your system. Why? because even with just lvl 2 embargo, the stack no longer works according to notes i read, cripples the economy on the target planet and gives a boost to your own production. Meanwhile, the 4 fighter squads and 8 bomber squads are running around blowing strategic items such as labs, mines, trade ports, etc. They are also good for softening up p
heartily agree with the OP. In one point oh three I often used carriers to wipe long range frig spam, but as mentioned they are just too weak and too easily countered by flak in one point oh four to be a viable counter now. The result is once again the predominance of long range spam. Were repulse to only affect its AOE, and were it to have a more significant AM drain (currently, if well microed, it will last forever without draining), it would still be a powerful but REASONABLE weapo
@Mr. Checkmate:In this thread we have thrown around the following ideas:- Stardock has sold 200,000 copies of Sins- very roughly, less than 1% play online- the single-player community is mostly happy- Stardock primarily caters to profits (I hope not)- Stardock wants to create a great gaming experience (hopefully)If you take any competitive experience, sport or game, the flaws in the system only show when you take it to the most scrutinized level of play. While many people simply want to r
TEC is all about rushing these days. But unfortunately, rushing won't work against a good player generally.
yep, if it's a random map i guarantee i will have illum before you can 'lrm rush' me... + malice = buy-bye lrm fleet =D
When I purchased sins a month ago it was routine to see 200-300 players online at a given time [...] Now there are usually only 100+ online at a given time [...] I fear there is a good possiblity of losing this vital "casual gamer" majority.Allow me to play the part of a cynical realist and pragmatist, or if you prefer : the ha-shatan.300 on ICO ? 200 on ICO ?100 on ICO ?You call that a "vital casual gamer majority" ?!!If I were working at Ironclad or Stardock, I would not lose a second o
I love sins, like I really do. I haven't been this into an RTS for a long, long time... and I want nothing more than to stay a hardcore sins player. But the issue of players randomly crashing due to some nefarious "sync issue" is really starting to make Sins multiplayer impractical. There is nothing more frustrating then having to wait anywhere from several minutes to a half hour just to find/fill a good game, to finally get that game launched and started, and then to have one
i find a couple siege quite useful for rounding out a nice roid raid party
The changelog for 1.04 claims that all siege prices have been reduced by about 15%, but this is not the case for advent siege... was it meant to be that way? And apparently drone hosts cost more? Bah these should have been listed in the preview changelog =P
