I've read many posts with people complaining about gravity wells being too small. I am sure the developers will enlarge them for us. The real question now is really by how much will they be enlarged. Personally, I would like to see them at least ten times larger...but keep in mind that I am a big Homeworld fan and love tactical battles and fleet maneuvering Ten times larger might make battles l

Yes, that is likely true. But it is far better than what is happening right now. I really hope they make it so each gravity well has a very small location for each Phase Space Lane exits/entrances to other gravity wells. By that, I mean that the Phase Space Lane starts at axis 0/0/0 of the point of origin gravity well and ends at 0/0/0 of the destination gravity well. Ships would need to get in line with that Phase Line in order to jump.

The game runs fine now that I have it installed on my system, but I had a lot of trouble installing it in the first place. I had downloaded the SoaSE Beta into an archived file. I needed to transfer the game to my PC at the cottage, as there are no High Speed lines out here (have to use dial up). Anyway, Stardock Central Archived the file in town without problem and I brought it here. However, when I went to install the game on my gaming PC, Stardock Central keep crashing w

The Beta1 runs well on my system and shows a lot of gaming potential but there are many issues that need work. Be warned, I've included a lot of points and suggestions in the following. Problems and Suggestions #1. Map and gravity well sizes are far too small. There is no room for tactical maneuvering/trickery in the game as it is now. The game's ships are so fast and travel such short distances that they are in weapons range within seconds of arriving in your sys

Hmm, moons would be cool. They would also further increase the importance of planet zones that have them.

Yes, blinking navigation lights on the ships/platforms would add to the atmosphere of the game

Ah, I see what you are saying. I should have downloaded and archived SoaSE, not installed it. I'll give it a shot, but there is no reason for it not to work. I'll see what this game looks like tonight. Now that I actually took a few seconds to explore it, Stardock Central seems to be a pretty sweet concept. Boy, I was getting pissed there for a moment, thanks for setting me straight.

Oh damnit. It looks like I just got ripped off. This game installs directly from the website. I now have it installed on a crap system. I would not have bought it had I known that you could not transfer the game. Freaking Beta FAQ forum gave the wrong info. Now I will have to go home, tear my PC out of the wall unit and bring it to town to hook up to high speed somewhere. I also guess I only have a few days to do this or I will no longer be able to download Beta1. With my

I am presently downloading the demo1, but I am wondering if the game can be transfered to my gaming PC. I can't use my gaming system for the download because it is hooked up to dial up right now. Anybody know?

Cool. As long as I can do the downloading on another PC that actually has a high speed connection, I am set...at least for beta1. I wouldn't want to try multiplayer over dial up. I should have high speed again by then though.

Hey, I am forced to use dial up at my place for the next couple of months. My question is, if I pre order this game, will I be able to download the beta1 on another PC with High Speed, and then burn it so I can bring it home and install it on my PC?

I meant that you could use solar sails to give you a tiny in-system boost to speed, and a huge boost for getting rid of power plant/weapon/engine heat. So we would use the sails as a giant radiator.

??? Sorry Great Emperor, but I am pretty sure that Schem is talking about getting rid of heat waste on a real space ship. It might seem minor, but it really is a serious problem. Schem, how is it exactly that heat can be transformed directly into electromagnetic radition? I am curious here and do not intend to come off as sarcastic. I do not have an engineering degree, but I understand enough of the basics to grasp new information quickly. I do, however, have a degree in military hi

Hi Lorent, I noticed in your tech posts you switch back and forth between the game, real world physics and far off future techs. Let's stick with real world tech for a moment. You mentioned ships using energy shields to travel in system. What shields are you talking about? Magnetic shields? Magnetic shields would be useless against any sizable objects moving extremely fast or that don't have a charge. So X-Ray lasers/lasers, pebbles and munitions (guided and unguided) would

Hi Lorent, I have a few thoughts for you. I am pretty sure that the game auto formations your ships for you. So formations are part of the game, you just have less control over them than you would in a game like Homeworld. Of course, there is nothing stopping you from manually commanding your ships around in battle to better suit your tactical tastes. Also keep in mind that in regards to focus fire, formations in this game wouldn't be quite as effective as they were in Homewo
