I agree with the OP: There's no way Starcraft II will measure up to Company of Heroes.
I have a suggestion for all Starcraft haters. Make a game where you: mine resources build units and buildings have buttons like "attack player 2", "harass enemy economy" and such strategic decisions... The AI should play out everything so you don't have to destroy your mouse clicking so much. It should remove some of the micromanagement...
Or

There will never be war between interstellar empires - only two choices, diplomacy and mutually assured destruction. An advanced interstellar empire will most probably have the technology required to nova a star. No fancy fleet battles, no cool planetary invasions with laser rifles, just system after system going *poof*.
The big problem with Defense platforms as I see it, is not only they do so little damage, both LRMs and Carriers can hit them from range without them doing much in return. Static defenses are theoretically useful in that they are military assets that don't eat up fleet supply, but they do so little and are easy to circumvent. The apparent intended design was for Hangers to engage enemy fleets and for Defense Platforms to protect the Hangers. However Defense Platforms don't really do tha
In my opinion, It's just a matter of showing automobile makers that yes, we do want clean cars and maybe it's time to do the right thing for a change rather than the most economically optimal thing.
Except that's the crazy thing - an electric car is the most economically optimal thing. The price of gas is such an important thing in our economy - it effects the price of almost everything. Paying 1/6th of what we do now on transportation would have a revo

$1/gal gas exists. [link="http://www.teslamotors.com/"]Tesla Motors[/link] Look at that. 2 cents per mile. 2 flipping cents per mile. Having energy costs comparable to less than 1.00 per gallon in an affordable, practical vehicle will be possible in the near future if we merely invest in the technology and go electric. NO amount of drilling is going to make driving as cheap as that.
I have never been able to work out how/what the targetting array does - I understand the Ceilo - more damage etc...
That's why it's counter-intuitive. I don't think anyone really knows for sure - but the deal is that your to-hit is at 100% and there's only three things that effect this, Asteroid Fields, a Vasari Cap Ship ability, and the Targeting array. Theoretically, the Array is useless everywhere else.
The Akkan is crap comparably speaking, the econ has no advantages, and the only fleet ship that really shines is the Kodiak.
Targeting Array really needs a fix to make the Akkan useful. It should be a straight up damage buff. Having the bonus only matter in really rare situations is counter-intuitive.
But I'd say hull/armor/shield upgrades just because they improve.... everything. Every single ship you have and will ever make will be better because of any of these techs.

I'm still pretty noobish on MP gaming (in SoaSE i mean), as far as I've saw it, sometimes it worth it, sometimes not. You better build more ships with your cash, since against massive focused damage your only real shield is shield mitigation AND a large fleet Anyway..
What I lik
I think Supreme Commander is a fairly close game to sins. It focuses much more on macro than most RTSs just like Sins. @Dragon Knight Company of Heroes is an awesome RTS (the best ever made IMO) but it's on the total opposite of the spectrum to Sins RTS-wise. It's kinda a question of what part of Sins you prefer - the RTS Fleet Battles or Empire building, you're not really going to get both in many games.
Kodiaks and Javelis LRMs are your primary damage dealers so they should make up the bulk of your fleet. Throw in a handful of support cruisers like the Robotics and Command Cruiser. Lead it with a cap ship or two and make sure you have a way to do planetary bombardment (caps can do it, but you need at least 3 to get it done in a decent timeframe or you can use siege frigates) and a way to colonize (either through the Akkan Battlecruiser or a colony frigate). Don't forget the flaks if you expect
Simple Question, what are your favorite techs to pick up and why? Recently, I really started appreciating Development Mandate (the TEC Policy tech that gives you free civilian orbital slots on all your planets) simply because it lets you start spamming trade ports all over the place and can turn your eco into an unstoppable juggernaut. Or you can go refineries to boost your resources. Or Broadcast for culture. Or Factories to boost production. It's
