I've been playing this on single-player for several hours and am hooked! However, my question to you beta veterans is, "Why bother researching and building labs etc to allow you to create cruisers when you can build a Capital Factory and churn out uber-Captial ships that eat up the little cruisers easily?" It seems to me a Marza Dreadnought will destroy 6 Kodiak heavy cruisers and can then be fully repaired.
