Cool, thanks.
Now I'm seeing that a boxed copy is $5 more than the digital download. That option is only for those who ordered download-only (TGN in particular) and wish to upgrade to a box. If your registrations page says DVD, that's what you've got. All box pre/orders will be filled with CEs until we run out.
Not to beat the dead horse, but does this mean that pre-ordering does not guarantee
I have a question about pathfinding, has anyone else noticed that if you order a fleet of ships to move to a non-adjecent grav-well (ie, go from home well to the front line) that as soon as the fleet reaches a grav-well where the main body (planet, asteroid, etc) is directly in the way of the two phase lanes the fleet will stall until you give it specific orders to move around the planet? I seem to be having this problem lately and it seems to be a bit of a pathfinding issue.
@ Multianna- We are about the same then, I can still run the SP game as well as a 1v1. I also begin to see problems at 2v2 and beyond that, it is awful. I am working on upgrading my sys, as I really enjoy the larger games. My primary competition (partner in crime as such) is unavailable for the next few months, so I am not overly concerned in keeping up with it atm. By the time he is around again, I should have a new(er) system to work with.
Add another mark for chugging. I have 2x7800GTX and I have just about quit playing now, as I cannot get in to a game far enough (late T2~and on) to enjoy due to video limitations. I have verified this by dialing up and down the eye candy to see the effects on framerate and it is rather obvious.

I agree that the game should be optimized towards dual cores. I understand the technology is relativly new in the consumer market, but relativly soon (within the next year to 18 months) a dual (or more) core setup will become relativly commonplace. I am currently running an Athalon FX-55, and am developing a plan to upgrade to a dual core (or quad core, dep. on money) setup within the next three to six months. This is not so much a major overhaul of my system, but a spot fix to allow me to "k
I would agree that pause is a necessity in multiplayer. As a father of four, I tend to find myself looking for the pause button rather frequently when playing multiplayer (I play only understanding, friendly games as I typically spend almost a third of the "game time" not at my computer, dealing with the kids latest emergency). As such, I tend to shy away from games that don't allow this to occur, or tend to make a poor partner as I am used to typing "gurard my base for a minute, someone is cr
BTW I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but the mouse movement was driving me crazy. I think I played to much supreme commander because I kept expecting it to scroll in where my mouse pointer was. Maybe I missed a setting. There is an option to turn the zoom to pointer on or off, so it will zoom to your cursor.
I would wholeheartedly concur with the idea of organized fleets and combined arms. For around the last couple of thousand years, combined arms (be it cavalry and infantry; or mobility and pinpoint strikes) have been the deciding factor of conflicts. Even looking back at the American revolutionary war, the adaptation of more complex tactics against a superior force is what led to the eventual outcome, not the ability to throw more lead at the problem. The idea of being able to cobble t
I recently had an issue with the phase inhibitor. One of my cap ships decided it would chase an enemy ship in to his home territory (all by himself) and was trapped there by the phase inhibitor. I began jumping in the rest of his fleet as support, and said enemy offered me a cease-fire treaty. I accepted, and then proceeded to jump out my fleet, as I was persuing other factions at that time. The cap ship that had been originally stuck, was still stuck even though I had an alliance with the f
I have seen this occur as well. Additionally, it seems to me (since I never remember to turn off the defend local area behavior) that the definition of local area changes if you give a new attack command. That is, you jump in to a new system (while on defend local area) and immediatly give an order to attack a ship. The default response of your ship after this seems to be to go back to where it arrived in system.
Happy B-day
Many people here seem to have good ideas. I think the simplest things that need to be updated are ships jumping through the gravity wells and the ability to control where you enter a well. Just looking at enemy trade ships, they will jump in to your system, sit on one edge, then jump on to the next system, without travelling through your system at all. This tends to make inhibiting trade through your system difficult. Additionally, the restriction of ships entering the gravity
