I wish that were the case. However Yarlen recently checked into it and it looks like Open Connection maps won't be possible. I believe yarlen was refering to the Retail version of Sins. You will be able to mod the game to be rid of them. I work at Ironclad. I've played it without phaselanes;)

I believe that Blair has stated it would be possible to mod it so there is full connectivity, meaning you will be able to jump to any satellite in the solar system. The game was originally designed that way. It is possible
Thanks for the post. I'll forward this to Blair.
That sounds like a great idea for single player, though don't forget you won't have that luxury in multiplayer
Yeah i never ment it a slant at your guys work.. much better than i could ever dream of doing.. Plus i guess for the scalability the ships cant have super high textures as it might get too much for he system to handle all those ships.. tho I am unsure if the ships on get rendered when you soon right in I would guess they do.. I actually quite like the design of the ships themselves.. im just thinking that in 2008 there are gonig to be much be
its good that they want to develop hte game further I just hope they work on the graphics engine as well, it looks ok at the moment about as good as homeworld 2 a few yers back.. the planets and backdrops are really nice.. but i really dont think the ships are upto todays standards let alone 2008s.. Tho dont get me wrong this
[quote]the first image is fixed, or else heres a link http://www.hodnoceniher.cz/screenshots/5079.jpg lol, everything in that image is now gone, haha, anyway, whhy do you like that skybox? Is it cause there is lots of black?
The glowing asteroid problem is a hardware issue with ATI. However if you are handy with photoshop you could just eliminate the alpha channels in all the asteroids. Just open the asteroid textures with "-cl" and "-da" at the ends of the name, and fill the alpha channel in with black. Then resave the texture. The alpha in the "-cl" is used for specular highlights. While the alpha in the "-da" is used for bloom. Try it with 1 texture, and check the results. Befo
then give us a new one Resources at Ironclad are allocated elsewhere. As Yarlen said, the Graphics in the Trailer are almost a year old now, Everyship in the trailer(minus a few) are gone. First image is broken, not sure what it is of. And what was it about the projectiles that was so wrong?
2 - Yeah it is a bummer. What is worse if your planet gets capped everything self destructs. I do hope that will be changed as well. It is kind of funny in a way however. It is sort of like they send out an APB suggesting to toss in the towel and commit suicide because it will surely irk the enemy to be deprived of the experience (and points) of doing it. The truly last great act of defiance. Only happens when it's the last planet of a player. You lose your last planet, you lose
True. I just use Scout Swarms until I can tech up to capitals. Then I just use fleets of 12-20 capital ships. Only useful frigate is the construction frigate. The battles do seem the same after a while though...AI swarm of scout frigates vs. my swarm of scout frigates... You should re-address you strategy then. 20 capital ships won't do much against a proper fleet of frigates in a MP game. Guess you gu
I'll give you guys a hint if you're having trouble keeping track of everything. Use your control groups. I'm playing a game right now, my fleet contains 465 frigates, 5 level 10 battles, 5 level 10 carriers, and 4 level 10 colony capitals. Anyway. What I do to keep everything on track. I use my control groups. Control group the entire fleet to ctrl .1, then I split that group up, bombers ctrl 2. seige frigates ctrl.3 capitals can be all in their own groups as well(by type) although it's o
Since Blair got a post a few days ago, thought it would only be fair Craig got one to.
it seems to happen when u have a control group without all it's members in that gravity well. at least, that's what i have noticed
if you have trade ships, your economy never dies
it don't run out, it's get dropped cause of upkeep costs on your ships and structures. Think of it as money paid to employ people.
when you look at the discription of the ship yards it says that when you build more than one they will build more ships at the same time but in the game all it does maybe is speed up construction of one if it's only building faster it's a bug Later in the game for myself at least, I build about 10 frig factories, can build about 50 heavy frigates (10 at a time) within minutes...
thanks, we all appreciate the comments... We're all excited about the game as well. Cant wait to show u the rest of our artwork, but that's to come...
Special kudos goes to teh graphics artist for teh planets. love em'. Thanks, means a lot put a lot of time into them as well as the asteroids
I would love to see the ship list to the left and drift as it is exploding then after 5-10 mini pops it goes BOOM... watch the capital ships, they do something similar already
experienced can be purchased
technically, we could make the textures larger, but it would make the game unrunnable on most if not all computers. Again, just want to know if you guys are talking about any ship in particular, you may be looking at something that is placeholder. I agree, there are a few things in the game that need fixing up. ie. carrier, trade port. Overall though, for an RTS, I think we stand up to supreme commander and others in the graphics department. My opinion... I do know though, we arn't
Some of the ships are basically placeholders at the moment, I'm saying some, not all. If you guys have an issue with any particular ships, would be helpful if you say which they are.
Gradual zoom can be done by holding shift while you scroll
well, we don't use HDR. I think it is getting confused between the asteroid shader and the planet shader, if you notice, the planets have a glow around them. Thinking that may be what it is, but not sure why it's only on ati cards. The shader is rendering fine, cause it's using the same textures as the resource asteroids, and those I believe look fine.
