Hey guys. I want to make a small request and ask if anyone here can help me. Im looking for a saved game (recorded game) that I can have, something with some really nice large battles, not a modded version of sins. just standard. Expansions are ok. Reason being is I need to cut a new demo reel together and I don't have time to actually play the game to get the footage. Preferably, It would be great if you were playing as Vasari as that is the race I cre

I'm using Mod Tool 7.5 and when I try to import a clip (black background picture from photoshop) before UV Stamping the mesh nothing comes up. Or shall I say, all I get is the default no Icon pic I started out with (also the reason I can't use Rotoscope). This is really frustrating at the moment as it's incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to edit the picture with the checkered col

Make sure your z axis is pointing forward. You'll see it at the bottom right of your viewport. That indicates the direction of front. your top null needs to be at 0, 0, 0. then make sure your geo is frozen. Go to transforms, remove neutral pose, then go back to transforms, freeze all transforms. Then procede to press the freeze button at the bottom right of your screen. This will remove any history. This should work

Please?
Unfortunatly, because it's the mod tool all you are able to export is a .xsi format. Make sure your hierarchy is correct before exporting, then make sure to middle click the top null (point) in your hierarchy then do the export. .xsi will export whatever is selected. Midd

there is a quick way; however, whenever I triangulate a model I do it manually as to get the proper direction for my polygon normals. The tool though to triangulate a model is found under the modify area of the modeling panel, then go to Polymesh, Then near the bottom you'll find triangulate.

Crysis is an FPS Sins is an RTS The issue with an RTS is that due to the fact there are lots of units on screen, each with their own phyisics and AI running vs an FPS where you are able to limit the active enemies on screen by clever level design and so on. If you compare sins to other strategy games though, you'll see that it's really not lacking at all. Look at starcraft 2 for example. If you actaully look closely at the models and textures from the screenshots that

From the perspective of the high end film industry, I am 100% correct. That's all I ever said. And all I did was state my credits so that any readers could understand from where my recommendations were coming from. It's the only way they'd know if my advice was useful or not. While I agree with you that learning the BASICS of 3D space can be accomplished using any 3d package, in about a week, there are an infinite number of approaches to the given problems of A+ animation and visual effects, and the high end ones require YEARS of on hands professional knowledge in each given

But if you are a student on his way to approaching the professional market, there is only Maya (film, games) and LightWave (film, tv, games) left still standing in a meaningful way. A few of the major companies (Pixar, ILM) use a lot of internal software, but generally that is wri

Oddly enough, .obj format seems to be give me better results when imported into XSI but can sometimes give you files that won't import at all. In those cases, I use .xsi format instead. The problem? SketchUp Pro is about $600 US or something like that. -dolynick
&nbsp

hey, not bad man, How old are you? I started this stuff when I was 12, just curious. I would suggest grabbing a more complex modeling package and start to use that. There are free versions of Maya (personal Learning Edition), the XSI mod tool, and Gmax. www.tristangoodes.com Don't let people tell you Software A is better than software B. It's stupid and ignorant. They're all the same. Some are just easier to learn. I see you'r

Xsi mod tool is a pain .
XSI is a lot faster to model with than Max. Also, all the artists on Sins knew XSI before hand. That's why it was used. There are plenty of ways to get the model from max into the game.

Hey, ya, those models are still with ironclad. They are very very early prototypes which didn't cut it and were redone / scrapped. Ironclad has spent a lot of time making the models and textures, you can really see the level of quality they persue by looking at those old models. Sorry I can't be of much help to you. Those models are property of Ironclad, and I don't have them either.

Where did you drop the texture files? Make sure you have them in the correct spot in the sins directory. Also, make sure the mesh file is pointing at them...

The expansion packs for sins were never planned during development. The way Sins was released was the way Ironclad wanted it. Also. Since the release of Sins. There have been a lot of patches that have come out, tweaking the game, improving the graphics... I dont' believe I ever heard Ironclad state they were releasing the game unfinished. You guys should remember, the guys at Ironclad are gamers just like the rest of us. They want to produce a game tha
