Also, I know that this probably has already been said, but I would appreciate a map editor (which I believe has been confirmed) and a random map generator for single player skirmish AND multiplayer battles. If the map editor has been confirmed, can anyone tell me how easy/difficult it will be to use? For example, the Starcraft editor was easy to use. Thanks!

I am much like Tsed in Reply #6, as I too like to play co-op against the computer. However, when I do play against other people, I think it would be great to have a Conquer the Galaxy mode where your victory in a specific star system added it to your territory on the galactic map. C&C has something like this called World Domination, and MechAssault 2 had a Conquest multiplayer mode where each planet conquered was tracked on the galactic map. It would be fun to sit down to a long, hard battle
Nice to see the advertising started so early. It will ensure that this game doesn't slip by virtually unnoticed like Conquest did, a fleet-based space RTS game which was released a few years back with no advertising (hardly anyone I knew even heard about it). Such a pity, too, since Conquest was my favorite RTS for the longest time... Great ad, though! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2
The gameboard is about to get much more interesting Right now I am looking at the latest planet type <br
Can anyone guess what the Vasari ship is in the first picture? The name of the ship, or its function (or both)? Let's see now. I feel that its too small to be a frigate and too small to be a capital ship. I will have to go with a cruiser, perhaps the Advent version of a command cruiser? I don't see any apparent weapo
Paradoxnt had a good idea above about smaller hangers and his comment on the gauss cannons and engines. Three "stacks" of engines (the existing engines and one on either side of it) would do it. As for the gauss cannons (smoke stack), I believe that they would look better if they were mounted internally on the front of the ship (somewhat like the frigates in the recent Halo E3 trailer). However, I wouldn't do anything with the beam weapons. As far as them firing through the ship and each oth
I prefer the term 'star systems'. We never did find our for sure if only our star system can be called Solar System. From Merriam Webster's Online Dictionary (note last part): Main Entry: solar system Function: noun Date: circa 1704 : the sun together with the group of celestial bodies that are held by its attraction and revolve around it; also : a si
What? Surrender? I think not! -destroys enemy invasion forces- Don't worry, your worlds will burn soon enough! -dispatches large fleet to enemy homeworld- I just love launching the nukes!
This argument just never dies! Seriously, I'm impressed! Lots of good points all around!
While I was playing the beta earlier and conquered a planet, I thought that it could be cool if, upon colonizing it, a short sort of militaristic sounding "celebration" track played, much like I said earlier, but with one difference. While that played for the victor, the loser should hear a more ominous sounding "you just got your -bleep- handed to you and your oponent will strike again soon" track. How AWESOME would that be?! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif"
I just was wondering, if for some reason I had to uninstall the beta (like that'll ever happen ), can I download it again between beta tests? I only ask this because a friend of mine's computer went down and he had to completely reinstall everything. I've never had this happen to me, but in the event it does, I want to know I can get Sins back.
Don't worry about being dissapointed. From what I've seen of this game so far, it only gets better and better. Besides (as mentioned above), if you see something in the beta you don't like as is, make a suggestion and the developers will consider it.
Will there be any slightly more militaristic scores? For example, Star Wars had the Imperial March, Red Alert had a sound track that I believe was called H-bleep-'s March, and Conquest: Frontier Wars had many soundtracks that illistrate what I mean. The current score is most impressive, but I just would like a few combat tracks that sound louder and prouder, which would demonstrate a sense of military power and greatness. Currently, the combat music demonstrates a sense of urgency, and does i
Why is it that everyone refuses to comment on the subject of mines? I really want to hear someone's opinion.
System based capitols got taken out. Were they in beta 1? I don't know since I didn't preorder in time. I know that under planetary development in beta 2, I can select "designate new capitol" (or something along those lines). As I kept using this to designate a new capital planet in every system I colonized, I noticed that it could explain my missing command point phenomenon (I would loose a couple hundred command points at certain points during the
I agree the loyalty factor is way to strong. So I suggest the devs do what real governments do and complicate things. Loyalty(%)- Base value set by race Effected by: distance, ‘state of the empire’, and propaganda. Effects: Odds of switching empires, Odds of Rebellion, and Planet Morale Planet Morale(%)- Base Value set by race. Effected by: Loyalty, Environment (I live on an asteroid, this sucks), Tax Level, and security (wow the
As far as pirates go, I did lose a colony ship to them (fortunately, it managed to launch its colony pods before it was destroyed). Otherwise, I haven't had too much of a problem with them, especially later in the game where my colonization fleet usually consists of an Akkan and either a Kol or a group of smaller ships (big fan of the light carrier, by the way). Of course, since insurgents are currently labled as pirates, I am never quite sure which is attacking. On that note, a friend of min
I personally feel that supply lines would only complicate this game, which has, so far, maintained a very fine balance being fun and presenting a lot of content while not becoming over-complicated. Supply lines did work very well in Conquest: Frontier Wars, but there is more going on in Sins. There is more to research and many different aspects of the game to focus on. You didn't have to worry about influence, trade, bounty, or three different tech trees in Conquest: FW. I enjoy Conquest a lo
Also, great feedback all around!
I know I've mentioned this before, but what about mines? What if you could deploy a mine field or a group of homing mines? For the most part, I like the current setup, but mines would give another defensive option to the player, even possibly being placed at jump points to give the enemy an exlosive surprise (evil grin) as they jump in to start a fight. As far as anti-fighter defense, what about the missile platforms mentioned above (hearby referred to as Missile SATs or M-SATs by me)? If th
As far as changing the fighter launch bays, I don't feel that vertical bays would look all that great (I assume that you mean the "pop-up" style of bays that are featured on the Sova carrier). In their current configuration, they provide a sort of balance to the ship design. The gauss turret on the left is balanced by the launch bays on the right. They probably could lower the number of bays from three to two, but otherwise, I wouldn't mess with it. Erog above has a great point about the fow
I know that this is an older post, and I'm sorry to bring it up again, but I was thinking about it while I was constructing Kol battleships on the beta the other day and wondered if anyone out there was still thinking it should undergo a design change. I once would have agreed that it needed a change, but after actually seeing it ingame, I feel that it should be left as is (although everytime I say that a ship design is good, it gets changed ( <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smile
Endurell2006 had a good point. I'm not sure how many of you played Conquest, but it had an adequate ship building animation. It doesn't have to be overly complicated. However, since the developers have already apparently announced their intentions to have a ship building animation, I don't think this is any great concern. After all, they've done a great job so far!
Nice battle pics. I would agree, though, that the AI doesn't seem to like capital ships. I've noticed that it also doesn't seem to care if it looses its flagship. In the three games I have played so far, after I had built up the beginnings of my fleet, it sent its flagship to my planet to attack mine with no support (even though the AI had more ships than I did). If I didn't have other ships around to support my flagship(or if it had sent in its support ships), the AI would have had a chance
I wish you could build construction frigs ! Just upgrade your logistics/tactical levels, and you'll get more. Personally I manage construction via the planet itself anyway, so manually building construction frigs would just be an annoying layer of extra micro to me. I tend to agree with kryo here. This game is more manageable by just clicking on the planet, selecting a project, and having the construction fri
