Sins is something of a simulation game. Freespace 2 doesn't really represent outer space that well. Not a good reference. If Sins isn't for you, then get out.
I don't really care what you think because I didn't ask for your opinion. I asked for help on how I can go about doing this. If you aren't going to offer me the right direction on how to mod it the way I want it to be, then shut it.

Well, thats great! How do you go about doing that though? Is galaxy forge that flexible?
Yeah, the moon thing...It is possible to make binery stars but I don't think they can be in the same gravity well or something like that.
This game is a lot of fun but a lot of areas in space are just boring. And the parts of space that are different aren't really that appealing. For instance, in Sins there are areas with magnetic clouds, asteroid fields, wrecks, etc, but they're so...dull. Is it possible to increase the special effects for these areas or something like that? Like make an asteroid field look as if it has giant floating boulders in space or even make the magnetic clouds or w/e they are called more dense in
So far, the only bugs I've been getting are graphical ones. Fighters stop'n'go during big fights, some warp special fx aren't played if theres a lot of ships, and a few explosions don't show up if theres a lot going on. Oh yeah, squadrons fly through suns/planets/ships. Not really that big of a deal but eh :S
huh
Wow. This is some pretty wicked stuff. Thank you for the mod!
I wasn't crazy over Far Cry to be honest, but I did like the AI a little bit in the game. Even so, this trailer pisses me off for obvious reasons. Uwe Boll is just awful but he prides himself in his ability to fail. Man, I hate Uwe Boll.
I have no idea if it's possible to be honest. The files are there and already made. I just don't know exactly how to replace the warp animation but you can bet I'd love to figure out how to do that. But for now I'm just going to take care of these sounds. Okay this is strange. I have one sound effect which is just the beam cannon and then I have another one which is the beam cannon firing + powering down. The thing is though, whenever it finishes, it plays a clip from the beginning of
Oh okay I see what you mean. Yeah. Damn, that sucks...Ah well. I'm a scrub at modding so bare with me lol. I gotta say though, what I did get working sounds pretty good ingame >_>! I'ma go polish up the tec beam cannons.
Okay, I got the beam cannon sound effects working for both Advent and TEC. The only thing is this though...In the reference gameinfo files, there is something that says this: WeaponEffects weaponType "Beam" burstCount 1 burstDelay 0.000000 muzzleEffectName "Weapon_PsiCapitalBeamHeavy_Muzzle" muzzleSoundMinRespawnTime 0.100000 muzzleSounds soundCount 1 sound "" What is 'muzzle'? I've tried looking for the original sound fi
Ahhh, well, it would be more for replays rather than actual gameplay. I record all the games I play just incase theres a good fight and if there is I watch it again later but in cinematic mode. Looks really neat >_>! Or if I'm guaranteed not to lose, I might switch to cinematic mode and click on a fighter to get a nice view of the battle while playing.
Man, I know what you mean. I was thinking the same thing yesterday and today. I would really love something that would automatically change camera angles and that sort of thing. Or maybe if you're watching a fighter/bomber, you can watch the fight from a cockpit view or something like that. Doesn't necessarily have to have a cockpit but at least the camera would turn, twist, etc.
Yeah, thats why I'm beginning to think it shouldn't be in it. 60 fighter and bomber wings...Yikes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX6bzq3M4M4 - Colossus cutscene. Just thought I'd post it >_> For lore purposes, should the colossus be included in the mod or no? It did take 20 years to complete after all.
This is the first time I've seen this commercial. It's awesome.
I like to let the pirates attack me so that my capital ship gets xp fed.
One of the devs posted in a different diplomacy thread that they are changing it in a minor way. I wonder what they're going to do.
I like to start off with an Akkan wit hthe colonization mod on it. My fleet usually consists of frigates + 5-6 flak frigates as a main force (Akkan and Kol paired up together). The Akkan is really great specifically because of the ion bolt, I've taken down so many capital ships because of it. The only other fleet I use is usually the Sova capital carrier + 7-8 carriers which hang out on the edge of gravity wells with fighter/bombers. I usually use them to guard a choke point and don't p
I usually park a fleet in a system where I think they will go to and then lead it there. With the Akkan capital ship, I'll use the ion bolt on his capital ship to take it down. Really though, the best way to get their attention is to attack it's planets. Once you start lobbing bombs down on a planet, the computer will have to do something and usually does warp in to stop you.
Well, the models are already made. You can download the game for free and probably get the models from there. I just don't know if it is possible to import them into something else. I'm not very good at modding :
This game is awesome but it needs better diplo :/
That sounds kind of complex but I'm not so sure if it's not doable, I'm very inept when it comes to modding. I like the sound of multiple afflictions due to space anomolies though. The main reason why I'd like to figure out how to do this stuff is just so that it gives more purpose to stuff such as the utility capital ships and that sort of jazz. Great ideas though.
Yeah, thats true but I think it's probably possible to incorporate it into the game somehow. I'm just going to have to look into it.
It would be cool if a meteor storm would bombard your planet once in a while, maybe like once ever 100 times you play the game. I remember somebody posted something about adding moons to the game, imagine destroying the moon and the debris bombards the planet or drift out in space and hit another planet.
That actually sounds like a great idea. I need to look into this stuff. So far all the maps I've played haven't included anything very noticeable except an aste
