I recently got back into Sins and wanted to do some more personal modding. However, I was wondering if it was possible to create custom gravitywells with plasma storm graphics, for instance being able to create a colonizable asteroid in a plasma field. Basically, I want to create the inside of a gas cloud. I have no idea how to go about doing this, so any advice is welcomed.

There might actually be a Freespace 3. It really depends on the success of the new Earthworm Jim title. Interplay is trying to produce games again since they made a bit of money and mostly got out of debt from selling Fallout 3.

I don't know how long these files will be up. If they go down, please say so. I'll find a different spot to stick 'em. Anyways, this contains a few sounds I've made using sound effects from Freespace 2 for Sins. I know the Tec is for the Kol and the other two beam sounds are for Advent. I know you only wanted one-way wormholes for galaxy forge maps only but is there really a way to make them one-way on randomly generated maps? And if so, how can I go about doing that? I like the idea tbh >_>

I was wondering about this too. My mom bought me a book on maya 8.5 and I've been teaching myself the program with the PLE. I just wish I could export models I'm making in it so I can use them for mods. Which of the free modeling programs allow you to export files in .mesh? And do any of the programs open .mesh files so I can have a reference as to how big ships are?

I've been trying to figure out for a while now how to change the frequency of the types of planets which spawn. It seems like theres just too many useful planets and not enough useless parts in space in random maps. I would to like to adjust this primarily so that colonizable planets are far more needed. Mainly because during large games, I'll have so many planets to the point where I don't even have to worry about what I want to build. This adjustment would of course mean more micromange

i think a way to make the universe seem more real is to have more than just warships/trade ships/industrial ships fly around. automated cruise liners, maybe even useless police units, etc.

no reason to worry about the changes lol. if you want the patch, then patch. otherwise backup your saved files and overwrite if you do it to be selective ;p also, what the above poster said had me wondering too who's got the wrong info.

Yeah. The structure models have to be modified but I don't know exactly how to do that. I think the best way to do this is to figure out how to open up the current models and see what makes the game know which part of the model goes pewpew. Thanks for the replies though guys.

1. Is it possible to make certain weapon systems on ships rotate? IE: Kodiak top turret 2. Is it possible to add weak weapon systems to structures ie: research facilities/hangers? I just want to know if the current modding tools allow this or not before I go ahead and waste time.

I'm trying to make this game use a seperate skybox for plasma storms. I'm trying to achieve the same effect which occurs with suns changing the colors of the skybox/backdrop thingy. Any ideas?

Yeah, I have an idea of what I need to do. The effect of a super dense nebula/storm cannot be achieved really with -just- the plasma particle effects (which I tried doing in the pictures I posted). The reason why is because the sheer amount required slows down the game/does really weird things with the engine because it tries to blend all them since they are somewhat transparent, so the colors get blended until it's pure white. I can't figure out how to create a large amount of particles without transperancy. I tried making the alpha channel non-existant for the plasma special effects but even then it's transparent...And the reason why I want to figure out how to get rid of it is because of this: [img]http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/CidCaldensfey/meh.jpg[/img] I think it is part of the engine which is causing this (one of the .fx files). Well, I don't know how to remove them without using galaxy forge to remove them from the premade maps. What you could do is make it so that they never ask for money.
