I've complained that some program icons don't read properly under Vista (I think it's a vista problem, because I never had had the problem under XP) and asked for an explaination, fix, or work-around to no avail and no sympathy. They expect us to find a 3rd party fancy icon instead or draw something from scratch. However, the application files contain very good XP or Vista icons already, and the customize web site don't give simple icons for those apps. So I finally got around

How about someone post instructions on how to extract the icons using a tool that can read them, and save them in a format that OD don't have problems with? This could be automated as a work-around.

The icons show fine, for the same EXE files, under XP. It has a problem with Vista, extracting icons from some programs. "Stardock created and included some hi-res icons for some standard apps. I want to use O.D. on my Vista laptop because the Start menu is rather poor. I like what it can do for me. But there are two main problems. First, some programs have very very tiny icons. Other programs, like Explorer, have no problem showing full-sized icons where needed, so they are in there somewhere! The last advice was "find another icon". Well, when selected in Explorer I see a full-sized high-res icon in the info bar area, so where is that coming from

More more info: So I try and do it the hard way. I right-click and "Create new shortcut item". Properties dialog box appears. I paste "C:\Program Files\4nt\4nt.exe" (with quotes) into the Link line, and OD+ crashes.

I'm populating a tabbed dock by dragging things from my regular "quick launch" area. The first one I tried did not work! Others did, so something funny here. I don't see the "label" appear when I mouse-over the tabbed dock after installing. I checked the settings and turned the effect off and on. Labels show up when I change to show below, so it knows what they should say.

Yes. That'd be a very nice feature. Maybe a list of apps that will hide it if they are run? I saw something like that in docklets, for 3D games that interfered with the dock.

When I turn on Window Blinds, the text in the right-hand pane of Explorer looks crunched. I tried changing the font name/size to something else and back again. I unloaded Window Blinds, and that window looks right, with the font setting unchanged (Tahoma 8). I have screen shots, if you tell me who to email them too. What's wrong? --John
