I am not sure how stealing techs works. I have great spy%. I spied on several powers until I have reached Advanced knowledge on some races and High Espionage levels on one other. After I reached Advanced, I withdraw my active spies since the game says I don't need to do anything else. Rarely do I get any techs. Once I got it from the High race, but one of the Advanced races I got nothing from. Does it depend on how many agents t

I am a trading empire - Mercantile Party, Startnig Bonuses to Trade, etc. If all my trade routes leave from my capital planet, is there any reason I wouldn't build a half dozen Econ Starbases around my capitol (do the bonuses stack or if there is one base that's all I get?) to capture all that income as opposed to stringing them out along the diff trade routes? Thanks!

hmm, i hadn't thought about the ads not being the same for everyone. Well, sorry if I overreacted. I do appreciate your help. That really freaked me out though - last time I had an infection like that it was a grim situation. It's ok. I actually decided to manually create a spreadsheet with all the combined values of costs to help me determine the value of any given tech - well, in theory anyway, since Im sure diff computer players assign diff values to to diff techs. Anyway, thanks again.

MISTRALOK, THAT LINK WAS FILLED WITH VIRUSES!!!! I don't know what happened and I don't want to slander anyone, maybe I somehow got misdirected or was careless using that site, but you should check it out yourself and maybe tell me what I did wrong. That was really messed up, whatever happened.

Long ago I found Nethog's tech tree for Civ II, and this has been great, but I was thinking of seeing if there was something else out there as well, maybe to supplement it. I did some searches, but am hopelessly lost for some reason. Can anyone provide some guidance here, especially a good spreadsheet type one that lists compative values? Sorry, if I missed something totally obvious in my search but thanks for reading and responding!

I may be missing something obvious but, the Game's Read Me is very scarce. I am trying to figure out how the newest version of whatever I have is different from the manual, if at all. I am especially curious about combat. I bumped in several posts that go on and on about how the combat is vastly different from what the Gold Edition Manual specifies on pages 69-71, something about degredating shields and guaranteed defenses instead of the random 0-whatever attack roll vs. the 0-whate

Wow, that post was incredibly well thought out, thanks for your incredible dedication and clarity. That was quite the brief/white paper! BTW, I dk if things have drastically changed since this original post but I'm playing a DA game now, with just a modest beam defense (against beam weapons) and it seems to really turn the tide of battle. Two Battle Ships can destroy a fleet of 5 medium to small ships with virtually no damaage. Maybe it's been patched since then?

After the Arcaens just sent me a message how they really respected my generoisty and diplomacy and our rating went from near red to sold yellow (middle) two turns later they declare war on me out of no where. Computer is Intelligent. Does this mean relations are just bull, or could the AI have a good reason for it? Curious of insights. Thx!

I am Altarian, playing a post planet-rush game now, with research in the game set to very slow. I cannot make anything close to an honest deal EVER period with either the stronger or the weaker opponents. All opponents set to INTELLIGENT. Example: The Arcaeans, who I have an "INCREDIBLE" diplomacy advantage over, are more powerful than me, but not mightily so, wanted in return for Advanced Hulls: Adv Trade, Basic Min, Laser III, Radioative Colonization, Starbase Fort II,

good stuff, thanks for the clarifications all. Yeah, an average vote would be great. I guess you are correct about it being easy enough to get 51% most of the time, but still it would be nicer to have politics play more of a role. Maybe do something with proportionate representation in the Senate dominating what bonuses you get or don't? I dk. It would be an interesting discussion though, I think...

1. UP: The manual says that with a high enough intelligence rating you can see what will be voted on. It was just me and two other poers and I had ADVANCED espionage levels with both of them, plus I was spending additional money but I could never figure out what was going to be voted on. Did I miss something? 2. Domestic Elections: Is there any way to lose a domestic election (other than not paying attention)? I mean, the turn before the election, I just lower the taxes a lot

Thx for the suggestion. I had thought about that, but I wanted to keep them separate so different people could respond quickly to the ones that they had something to contribute to. If you notice, I used especial care to make sure the title of each post was very specific, so that someone did not have to scroll through a volumunious passage, just to see if there was something that they could help me with (and not get bored along the way <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_D

Hmm, did anyone ever patch this? I think it's a great idea to have a peace treaty for a minimum number of turns. One penalty for breaking it could be like a -10% cumulative diplomatic penalty or something like that... ?

I guess in-game movies show only once, but I think they are a very nice touch to the game, and it would be great to give players the option of selecting them always "on" so they can see them more than once when an event happens. For instance, I remember in GalCiv I, there was no movie for capturing planets and the playing community asked for one and the developers obliged (yeah!!) and that was very satisfying. After all, trying for two days to capture an enemy planet and then finally
