Research your way there. Takes a little longer, but then that's part of the game...challenges. :)

OK Admiral, I've seen those "movies". I thought I was missing out on a neat little intro or something. ;) I've not had any problems at all seeing these. Of course, after the first time I saw it, I double click the minute I see it start up to go straight to the main menu, so I might not have seen a problem due to that. I'll try not to be so impatient the next few times and let it run it's course. :)
I have never seen a movie yet Exactly when should we be seeing them?
Performance on my P3-650 was drastically improved! Bravo! The only bug I ran across is in the notification window the military production doesn't show up immediately, only when you click an item in it, or it will show up the next turn. Otherwise, I'm having a blast! :)
I would really like to have a mini-map viewable at all times. Like when changing production, it would be handy to recall just where this planet is located in case I need to build military there or not. When I get alot of planets, it's hard to remember locations of all of them. Just a suggestion.
Yep, this is a major bug...well, kinda a cheat too. :D But I tried a couple things... A race had just tried to extort money/tech from me...so I turned around and for 1 tech, I asked for all but one of his worlds and 5000 credits for 53300 months. The text turned green right after I put in the credits part...and I got it. But when I tried to change production on one of the new worlds the game locked up. Loaded last auto-save and this time asked for all worlds but one, all ships but h
I noticed a few minor bugs others have seen, but overall it played better than any version yet. SO much so that I lost track of time and it was 3:00 AM before I knew it! :notsure:
I finally built one of these things! Of course if the game hadn't ended I'd still be paying off the 25,000 charge! Seeing how this is such an accomplishment, there should be more of an uproar over having built one. Nary a word from the opponents did I recieve...a warning, or at least something would have been nice. Kind of like in Civ III when you built nukes...the opponents commented on it. Oh!, and a nice cut-scene would have been nice too! ;)
A couple of points I'd like clarified... 1) The list of items produced and messages at the lower left window stays there until I click them, right? If so, then is there a way to clear them all without clicking them one at a time? 2) Is there a list of planets found and their levels? Or do I really have to go looking at all of them to find a good one? 3) Also, is there a way to easily located found resources?
I loaded an old saved game from the previous beta just to see what it did. It was a gigantic galaxy and all aliens set to dumb. Other than a few oddities, it seemed to work just fine. I think I'll finish it up before I start a new one. As for them being too productive, whatever they do I wish I knew so I could get a constructor in 2 or 3 turns from the start!
Lucky Jack said "I don't see why it isn't fair. After all, had this have happened during the Roman era the Romans would have learned the tech from their captives and exploited it." I agree and I thought that was what was happening...except I couldn't build them anywhere else and they didn't show up on the list even on that planet.
A couple of things... 1. A workaround for the "can't attack ships" bug (at least with the mouse) is to right click one space behind the ship(s) your trying to attack. Worked for me anyways. 2. A possible bug...when I invaded a planet, whatever they were building at the time of takeover the continued building...wether or not I had researched that particular item. For example, I took over a minor races planet that was building a battleship, and I hadn't researched that far yet, but it b
