It's aimed at single player and FFA, which is actually what the majority of Sins owners outside the forums play.
This. While I also would like some more substance, or more differentiated states of relationships and treaties / trade options, I'm glad they develop an expansion that seems to be geared more towards play vs. AI instead of a super-balanced multiplayer addon.

Having RPG elements doesn't mean it's an RPG... If the goal of the game is to 'win' a map through strategy, then it's clearly not an RPG, but a strategy game. Other than that, looking good. ;)
That's what I thought as well. :( In fact, I'd prefer having two different settings at game start: AI intelligence level and AI resources.
Check the bottom of page 23 for the Entrenchment download link.
Yeah, I found it a while after posting. Great job!
Will this mod get updated for Entrenchment as well?
Is it just me or is the way of adding custom forged maps to the game a bit overcomplicated? I can see copying the maps to a specific directory (even if that means having custom maps in two different places) but also having to edit game files? It's maybe even fine for the people who design maps, as they are prepared to deal with some 'dirty' editing anyway, but to the casual player who just wants to download and play a map, it's simply too many things to remember. <
Just got back into Sins now the Entrenchment is gold... waiting eagerly for your Entrenchment compatible version!
Huh. Invalidating all old forge-maps... That's not the brightest thing to do. ;)
I'm really looking forward to this. Especially the AI changes! Will 1.03 also be a bit easier for graphic mods, i.e. we no longer need to copy the whole textures folder instead of just the replacements?
Well, you still check your engine oil and refill it when necessary, you change tyres according to season and check their air pressure, you know how to change your wind shield wipers when they're used up, don't you? Checking your router configuration (especially when setting it up the first time) isn't any different from browsing through the owners manual of a new car... And once you're already there, you really, REALLY should click through each configuration menu just once to see if th
I seriously doubt the game is marketed to 12-13 year olds. And with any broadband contract, you automatically get a router nowadays - mostly with WLAN and whatnot. The problem is that OS like windows have so completely hidden even the most basic functions that people don't even bother to read the instruction manuals for their routers. I can't explain it in any way else that I have in my current location, access to at least three unsecured WLANs, one of them with the default manufacturer
Its easy to host, all you have to do is forward your IP correctly.
I haven't tried out MP yet, but you surely mean forwarding your port, not the IP. ;) And port forwarding is something so elementary and basic, on most modern router it's a matter of a simple click and entering the port number. Of course, if you're feeling suicidal and lazy, you could always put the whole computer in the DMZ... :D
Yes, and that's the beauty of it. Mods like this mean that more players can get more enjoyment out of the game because they can tailor it easily to their own preferences. :D
Outstanding! I will definitely be watching this and, if you allow, use it in my personal merge of mods. My guess is it will work with other mods that don't modify the galaxy file themselves? On the note of gas giants: Do you make a distinction between the 'Sins Plus Enabled' version and the normal version?
Either use the update function in the game menu, or start up Stardock Central periodically to check for updates.
In Sins, you don't need to alter any vanilla files for mods, unlike the games you mentioned. Sins has an ingame mod-enabler, the one thing it would need is an automatic mod-merger - but that is something much more complex.
Yes, that's something I'd like to see as well. Maybe a stats screen for the player, with more number for how often you played which race, which scenarios, difficulty levels, win/loss, ...
Very interesting. Especially the new planettypes. Could you perhaps include instructions in the mod how to use just those new planets?
The names for randomly generated planet are stored in the English.str file. So technically, modding them would be a possibility. However, two questions arise. 1) How many entries can the engine handle? I have a compilation of star names (both real and fictional) from GalCiv2, about 2600 (!) of them. It'd only take an hour to code something that puts that list into the required format, but I'd rather know if it'll work before I start on that. Same goes for capital ship
If he thinks anyone would want to join 'his' clan, he's even more delusional than I thought... He's also the first person I meet to actually admit being a troll.
After reading his posts in this thread, he's in the 12-17 range.
I'd actually put him in the 16-20 range, from his grammar and orthography. Still, a troll is a troll. HornedBeast, I feel a bit sorry for what happened to your thread here. Maybe start a new one and hope he doesn't show up
Cut and paste where I said it makes me better because I'm in clan. I bet you can't do it.
No problem at all.
Haha! You obviously know me not. I am the clan leader of MAGOG (Military Alliance of GOG) (www.magogclan.com website will be updated soon for SINS). If you do not know me yet, you will.

I speak the truth and nothing but the truth. You can continue to speak against the truth.
This speaks of obvious egoman
People like him are the reason why I hoped that Sins would be marketed more as a 4X game instead of an RTS. Less trolls and kids. For the record, I'm also a member of a clan, founder in fact, back in '98. FPS, though, organised LAN parties with 150+ participants. Do I advertise that fact? No. Does that make me better? No. Does it matter at all? No. And if the rest of your clan are just as rude and obnoxious as you, I just hope that you'll loose interest in the game soon.<
The same kind of trolls tried to run me off at the beginning
I'm seeing only one troll in this thread... Has it occured to you that you're simply off-topic in this thread? It's about creating a map, using the tools provided by, shockingly, the developers themselves. Or that the people modding the game have been in the betatest and played the game for a year already? Or that maybe, just maybe, the developers had a reason to release the fir
I'm not using rally points, but this is still happening to me. So the issue might be a bit more difficult to track down (and reproduce).
No, it happens also when the fleet leader is in the same gravity well.
