I feel the problem with this gameplay is focusing TOO heavily on minions and minion based items. They are a GREAT commodity, however minion gameplay with queen isn't utilizing her best strenghts. In the early/mid/late game she NEEDS mana and mana boosting items. My ideal queen item selection is Scaled Helm+Banded armor first, Then Unbreakable Boots, Then Vlemish (OR Plenor depending on current gold). Bramble Shield i
Actually, I did a build focussing on uproot. It's great to smash defenses early in the game. And pushing actually does win the game. The thing is, QoT simply sucks at killing other demigods so you simply have to play her differently. Try this guide to get some ideas: Queen of Thorns - Uprooting the world
Ok, so you push towers in the early game, what then? You spend all your skill points raising an ability, and C
I don't think she was designed to be a brawler and I therefore simply do not use her as such. Her strengths lie more in support and pushing then in DG killing. She causes trouble for the enemy team not in killing their team mates but in keeping her own team mates alive, large AoE armour reduction and tower downing. That, for me, is her secret. You're simply forcing her to fill a role she wasn't designed for.
Why sacrifice

Played another game just now trying to focus primarily on my minions, getting items and such to raise their health and damage, but by the time I had 2 items that raised my minion health/damage by some miniscule amount, the Erebus on the other team was so beefed up by killing other players, it was just pointless to continue trying to make them viable, and at that point, the game was pretty much over. There is only so much I can do, and getting the items to strengthen my minions is totally negl

I've tried multiple builds for this character and have yet to see a worthwhile strategy. Attack spells become quickly outmatched with +health items and the short range on them begs me to get close to an enemy that is infinitely more dangerous than I am. Bramble Shield helps in this situation, but I'm forced to switch forms to use it, which leaves me at a complete disadvantage for the 2-3 seconds that takes. I can cast it before I go in, but I will most often need to use it as soon as

Ah ok. I assumed GalCiv2 prefs file was the file that worked for all versions. When I altered the settings like the other post mentioned for the GC2TwilightArnor prefs, it started working. Sorry for the flase alarm - Thanks for the assistance though.

Every time I try and start the game, it'll hang on a black screen with a smaller resolution (I use 1920x1200). I got a new computer recently and haven't had any problems with Sins or other impulse games I have, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I tried running the game a few weeks ago and got an error that said it had a error activating the product and to check the serial number. Well, it's the same number I have on my other computer that ran the game fine. I also stopped getting this

I've played two games online and both games were won by someone massing just Illuminators. It's a trend that's turned me off to online play. The game ceases to involve any strategy when the key to winning is simply massing one type of ship faster than the next player.

Yes, I would find both useful. So I wouldn't want it changed, just the extra option. When jumping to an unknown planet where a large fleet may be present, I would want the fleet to go together. But if I just need to get ships quickly to a spot for defense or to reinforce a battle already going on, I would want them to jump as soon as possible.

I thought it would be a cool to have an extra option in the fleet panel for fleet jumps, where all the ships move into position at the jump point before making a jump, instead of jumping as soon as they get there.
As a side note, maybe unique techs should be tradeable only by the race who originates the tech. I play as the Arceans, I can pick and choose to trade Weather Control with my allies, but they can't turn around and trade it to my enemies, because I originated the technology. Not realistic perhaps, but trade goods are already like this, and it would certainly make things more interesting. Befriend the arceans to get weather control, or just

I think the Arceans have a bonus to creativity in one of their techs, but I'm not sure about that. I just remember someone getting creativity from the research tree. It still strikes me as something that shouldn't happen, "aha!" middle-of-the-night inspirations aside. It's a stat that's always in effect and groundbreaking achievements dont happen every day, every month or every year. Why would there be research funding if I can just rely on the off-chance that I'll get it for free anywa

I hope this is the right place to post this, but anyway I noticed a strange bug while playing Altarian with high research and the creativity skill. I usually play every game with very slow techs and I just sit back and research all the stuff I'm interested in while everyone else does their thing. Every time I do this, I get into a huge deficit and everything slows down for awhile while I try to make money again. Well, I noticed that if you have a high creativity, you have a chance of re

Does the arrival of the Dread Lords classify as a Mega Event? I'm assuming the hundreds of pirates spawning is a mega event, but I didn't know if the Dread Lords was - I like having them around, but hate the pirates so I wanted to know if I could turn off mega events safely and still see them. And also, what other things are mega events? The faction that spawns mid game and takes a few planets from everyone? Discoveries on planets? Every once in awhile I see something completely new and
Yeah for some reason they are weak at research yet they created one of the most powerful races. Also a creative bonus wouldnt hurt.
Yeah, good call. I had forgotten about that. It does seem strange that they created the Yor, but don't have anything to show for it. I would think they would be one of the leading researchers, but Altarians strangely have that honor (I'm not sure why, they seem more like Greenpeace to me).
I'd like to know what the rationale behind this is too. I'd also really like to know why it's impossible in a lot of cases to make a custom race that's as powerful bonus-wise as many of the starter races. (My xml coding doesn't count )
You know, I was wondering about this for awhile to, but

Oh, and I think there are only 4 races that start with less than 10 pts to spend. I know the Krynn (9), Refuge (7) and Torian (8) are the first 3, but I forgot the last one. All other races start with 10.

5 Replies 4,473 Views

I was just wondering why the Torian and Iconian Refuge (arguably the least powerful civs) have the fewest points of all the races to distribute on extra abilities - while many of the civs with incredible bonuses (krynn and Yor come to mind) are given more points overall. Maybe its not really a balancing thing more than it is a game history thing, but it seems to me that every race should at least have the initial 10 points to spend on extra skills - or at least give the weakest races a
