A longer beta period sounds like a good idea to me, especially with how long it takes to play this type of game. I remember people in the Twilight beta complaining that they couldn't finish a single immense-size game before the next beta period started. [e digicons]:)[/e] It sounds good for the company, too. Blizzard became on of the most successful and well-respected developers in existence by thoroughly polishing all of their games and refusing to release them before they were read
First off...the lag was horrible in half the games I was playing. Yikes! And it would sort of come and go at different times. That might be an issue of limited demo servers putting people together who aren't regionally that close, though, so I'm willing to accept that.
Try turning down your sound settings, or putting /nosound in the shortcut to turn it off entirely. There's something glitchy about the game's sound tha
I played a fair bit tonight. Only against weak AI so far, and I never played DotA, but I think I'm starting to get a feel for the game. It doesn't feel like I'm playing a full game, though. Yes, it's a demo, but all of the core gameplay is intact, right? It's only a few characters and maps that aren't available. I feel like there's supposed to be something more; like it's just a minigame from some larger product. I don't know if that's a problem with the game or with my expectations,
A few things I learned while perusing their forums: 1. The Mercs game they're releasing is not the version that originally came in the box. It's going to be a DVD compilation of MW4:Mercs + official IS and Clan Mechpaks + unofficial Mektek Mekpak 3.1 + a buttload of community maps + an update utility to be used when MekPak 4 is released later this year, all bundled into a single installer. No more nightmarish patching process! 2. The new release will not include C-Dilla DRM, s
Several factors in MechWarrior 4 contributed to an underwhelming MechWarrior experience: The Mechs moved very agile and fast, not like a 30 to 100 ton coloss would move.
So, what? The mechs in MW2-3 moved like Urbies in MW4? The game wasn't all that fast, and I don't see how making it slower would improve the fun. This seems like one of those areas where gameplay trumps realism.
The Mechs were very col
MechWarrior revealed @Jalicos: MechWarrior 4 was very arcade-like. MechWarrior 2 and 3 (and all their expansions) were simulators. MechWarrior 4 also looked rather cartoonish and it didn't feel like MechWarrior.
Cartoonish? [e digicons]o_O[/e] And what do you mean by "arcade-like"? I'm seeing that term thrown around a lot lately but it seems rather ambiguous.
What's wrong with Mechwarrior 4? I played Mercs and loved it, but never played any of the earlier ones. (The horrible SNES port of MW1 doesn't count)
If you immediately know the candlelight is fire, then the meal was cooked long ago. I'll have the waffles.
You are given a wide variety of newly-developed superpowers. Unfortunately, it's a beta release and there are still a few bugs to work out. Flight™ v0.9b has an altitude limit of four feet. Lightning Bolt™ v0.61 occasionally ignites the user. Shapeshift™ v0.113 periodically attaches an extra spy hand to the user's face. Other powers have a tendency to backfire unpredictably, with often tragic hilarious results. Please remem
WARNING: LONG POST Sorry if it sounds like an ad; I tend to get a little excited when I'm explaining things. [e digicons]^_^[/e] I've been a member of eMusic for a few years now, and have generally been pleased. They offer a subscription service where you pay a certain amount of money each month for a limited number of downloads, with an option to buy "booster packs" of additional downloads. The new "Premium" plan is 50 downloads for $20, w
For all of you who think this is a "greedy" move by Time Warner, would you rather see them go out of business?
Yes. Other services have proven themselves fully capable of providing uncapped broadband access at speeds significantly higher than what TWC offers. (Verizon's FIOS is one good example) If consumers reject the proposed plans and TWC goes out of business as a result, it will free up the cable licenses where they

Their problem is staring you in the face. They've sold you a connection they can't give you. First, plenty of information about this issue at StopTheCap.com Now some information about me and my situation: I live on the edge of the suburbs east of Rochester, where they plan on doing this cap stuff. I'm paying about $45/mo for Time Warner internet, and according to the speedtest site Frogboy used, I'm getting just under 2Mbps down and 0.3 Mbps up. The advertised rate is 10Mbps, but it's very unusual to see even half that. Unf
I have a very old inkjet printer that I don't use anymore. The print quality is terrible, cartridges are getting hard to find, and I don't know of anyone who would conceivably want it. My first idea was to just dump it by the curb, but I was wondering if there might be a better, more creative solution. Does anyone know of an alternative use for an old Canon S400 inkjet printer, or a way to use the parts to do something interesting? The more mad scientist-y the idea, the better. [e di
I could see our society going down various paths... First there is the fairly common 'space federation' where we spread our colonies among the stars. Second is a bit different... We would spread ourselves among the stars in large harvester ships essentially strip mining the galaxy for the profit of the rich living on the few enjoyably habitable worlds. We would become the locusts of the universe. Third is somewhat unlikely,
I like the black outlines. They add to the whole children's-fairytale-storybook vibe, and they also give the important map features some much-needed visual "pop". My eyesight isn't all that great, and I find most newer games are so overly intent on being "photorealistic" that they let important elements get lost in the background clutter. (The latest Super Smash Bros. and Burnout games are particularly strong examples of this.) I can see everything very clearly in this screenshot (exc
I was looking today at the cluttered mess of icons my boss has on our work computers, and it struck me how archaic the whole file/folder/desktop arrangement is. I started wondering if there was a way to make a box or panel or something that I could use to visually group icons together, and now Stardock tells me they made one! WHEEE!! [e digicons]\o/[/e]
Yay karma! [e digicons]\o/[/e] Congratulations on winning. If there's a harder mission, I don't want to see it.

I mean, what else would a galactic tyrant sit on? A beanbag chair? That would just be silly. Unless it was a black beanbag chair. With spikes. Spikes filled with beans.
I've done three land battles since the Mauna Roa mission, and they were all ridiculously easy in comparison. Don't know why they made the first one so hard, but the rest are easy money. The text quests are a lot of fun, too. They make you do all sorts of crazy stuff. I've noticed, however, that there isn't a whole lot of information about this game available. The official forums are dead, there aren't any fansites, and even Gamefaqs doesn't have anything more than a collection
I'm currently having the same problem as the OP. Can't wake up in the morning, can't get to sleep at night, feel absolutely horrible when I finally manage to drag myself out of bed. I used to be able to just get out of bed anyway if I needed to, but lately it's like my body has just given up trying; I get at least 8 hours of sleep whether I like it or not, and I always feel sick at the end of it. I'm wondering if I have sleep apnea or if this is just the result of spending years in jobs that
I probably could have finished it sooner, but I had never gotten the mountain before and was being super cautious. Here are a few tips I learned in that battle: You're best off sticking to two types of bots: Attackers and Healers. Attackers should have 3 rocket launchers, 1 stunner, a mortar, the range module, and antigrav legs. Rockets do lots of damage and, with the range module, outrange most turrets so you can easily weaken them before charging in. The stunner is j
I finally beat Mauna Roa! I just sent everybody to the mountain, established a foothold in the battery factory, and then got really lucky. Red kept hammering the mountain, and eventually managed to clear out all the turrets around Green's robot factory before being repelled. Green didn't rebuild the turrets, but kept pumping out robots and sending them northwards to attack red. I had two bots at the battery factory at the time, so I just rushed in and ninja-capped the factory. <p
That's what i'm worried about the most. Frogboy, please help the gaming community don't just sit there, help convince the goverment to ban DRM for good.
A government at rest will tend to stay at rest until acted upon by an outside source of funding. We're already winning in the fight against DRM, so I'd rather Frogboy appeal to the FTC's inertia than try to push against the tide of lobbyists and campaign donations. <
I also picked this game up not too long ago, and I love it! It's so crazy and open-ended and fun, except for that horrible Mauna Roa Beaches level. I'm having the same problem as everyone else; I can't take the middle no matter what I do, and Red eventually takes out Green and rampages over the whole map. It's very frustrating, because I think I'd like the RTS missions if it wasn't for this one map.
