Personally, I think the Aero glass/blur was the best visual effect added to Windows ever. I use the Aero glass/blur effect not only Stardock WindowsBlinds; but also for apps like Glass CMD . Personally, I wont even think about using Win8 until there's a way for me to have just as nice of a desktop as I do with Win764 bit + stardock with Aero Glass.
After using Windows all day, all-of-a-sudden, I notice that most my apps start to crash persistently. The only way to fix it is to reboot. I even tried changing to a different skin, but still same thing. I dont see this issue at all until after several hours of use. Once it starts, it will continue until I restart.

Which leaves me to still needing help to determine if this is a per-pixel Windows Blinds bug (exposed by GlassCMD) or something that can be corrected in all per-pixel skins. This is very easy to reproduce; almost near the time it takes to create a post. I would open up a support ticket to confirm if this is a bug or not; but, would prefer if someone could look at this with a second pair of eyes before submitting a support ticket.

There are plenty of CMD replacements. I'm not interested in any of those since all the onces I've found require too much change to the OS to get them to act exactly as cmd.exe; plus, none of them have the aero "blur" transparency look. Apparently, this bug is caused by any skin that uses per-pixel Window frames. It's not limited to just the skins from this one developer. All the skins this skin developer creates uses "Per Pixel" in order to get the look he wants (I guess). If I forcably disable per-pixel elements in my skins, it prevents the weird transparent borders from showing in my GlassCMD-enhanced command prompts. PS: I tried to specify in WindowsBlinds to use a different skin for cmd.exe; but for some reason, Windowsblinds doesnt detect cmd.exe. I'm guessing it's because the Win764 system32\cmd.exe may cause Windowsblinds to look for the wrong cmd.exe. Anyone know which cmd.exe to specify for Windowsblinds to identify the correct cmd.exe process in it's "per application" settings?

I'm sure there's probably no easy way to do this. I just saw Stardock Fences. I really like the way fences looks. It would be great if there was a way to keep my existing skin frame/titlebar (which is grey/glassy); and, have everything else inside the Explorer window to look like Fences. Is there a skin that already has the Explorer window as close as possible to Fences?
This really doesnt happen too often, but, once in a while I've noticed when I open an Explorer window, instead of using the skin I see on my desktop, it decides to open up without any skin. If I close it, shortly after, the problem goes away. Anyway, just odd that it happens once in a blue moon. I'm curious what causes this.

Neil, I just realized, that youre one of the lead designers for Windows Blinds and Windows FX!!! Like many people, you are my hero. Without you, I wouldn't have the Windows desktop I have today. Could you tell me if/when the final official version of Windows FX will be available? I would really prefer to install a final version instead of installing the beta, then the final version; even if they are pretty close to identical.

Im curious, if I have Intel Q6600, Win7 64bit, Nvidia GT640, with Windows Blinds, would Window FX 5.1 beta 2 be more stable and bug-free or version 5.0? I'm a little bit nervous to install this for the first time after seeing the issue that crashes Explorer windows and choppy graphics. I was hoping that this produce is as solid and dependable as Windows Blinds 7.4; which as been around a lot longer.

It's been a long time since I've used Skinstudio. Im hoping someone can guide me to surgically replace my current boring grey "Details pane" to a tinted glass details pane. Since I don't have any experience creating images from scratch; nor do I want to learn how to do so just for a single image, I am hoping someone who has access to an existing dark grey tinted Explorer "Details pane" to show me how to use it for my skin. Im curious, when upgrading from WB 7.2 to WB 7.4, would it be better to uninstall WB 7.2 first, then install WB 7.4 if I want all traces of the old version to be gone? Does WB leave any orphaned files/registry settings behind after an uninstall? I know some Windows applications leave a mess behind in the registry after an uninstall.

I use an old version of PowerDVD to play my old HD-DVD discs. Unfortunately, the application was made back in the days where display cards didnt have enough GPU power to handle Aero glass while playing HD-DVDs.. so, the app just blindly disables Aero glass effects for my WindowsBlinds theme. This is a long shot, but I was hoping someone knew where applications access in the registry to tell the system to turn off/on desktop composition. I might be able to limit permissions

I have a dual monitor Windows Vista32 PC at work. When I RDP to my "Win7 64bit" home PC with stardock WindowsBlinds 7.3 installed, my stardock dark colored skin turns into bright solid grey on the taskbar. I would like to see the same skin; along with transparencies enabled via RDP. What am I doing wrong? I have never seen transparency working EVER when using RDP; even when I used to use XP on my work computer. I don't remember exactly, but I even upgraded
Nevermind, I spoke to soon, I think it was just a quirk, it went away. It works very nicely. I can already see one problem that was fixed... The Quicklaunch small icons can finally be double-height on a large taskbar. I wasn't able to do that with version 6.x-7.2
Hmmm... I thought this upgrade was supposed to make things better with Outlook2010. It looks like it introduced an issue. I didn't have the below problem in 7.2; or ANY other Windows Blinds versions, including 6.x.
