No offense Yarlen, but I don't see how sending out actual CDs, with the full install on them, as opposed to making the install available for download in exe form, does anything to protect you from piracy. The cracked image of those CDs will make it out to the torrent groups just as quickly. Maybe you delay things by the time it takes to ship the CDs, but that's about it. That's just the harsh reality of any digital format these days, I'm afraid. Either way, most people who get a taste of the

How about just allowing people to download an executable install file/package, instead, so they can burn their own backups? Pressing CDs and shipping them out seems like kind of an unnecessary expense, with the download option being available. Or maybe, Stardock should just have an option to create a backup copy from their interface. This would still allow for the option to enforce only one version running at a time. Also, this is not to suggest that this type of cloaking tech would be cheap enough to do everywhere. Maybe at just a few key points. Or maybe only so many per empire. 10 I dislike tractor be
Didn't you have to purchase the game to participate in the Beta?
After thinking about things a bit more (as far as what might fit into this type of game), and reading a few more posts, I thought I'd bring up some new ideas/suggestions that I haven't seen mentioned yet.... 1) Cloaking ships/Anti-Cloaking ships (cloakers visible when attacking another ship only) 1a) This could work for structures too, I guess. Maybe a logistics structure could hide/cloak the fleet defending your planet, or conversely uncloak a cloaked ship that entered the warp
Wow! Thanks for the quick responses everyone! I only just now logged in after I left that post (busy weekend). I wasn't actually expecting much of a reply. However, seeing every point responded to is a good sign of great community, and developer support. Very encouraging! Hope that keeps up. Can't wait to see the additions in the next few Betas.
Hey there, I must say first that I got involved in this Beta just recently after reading Blair Fraser's interview at IGN. After he mentioned that he was an old VGA Planets lover, I thought to myself....finally a game developer with the same gaming backround as me! I LOVE VGAP and still play it to this day! That said, since I just downloaded Beta 2 recently, I only have a few simple suggestions at this point. Also, I haven't had time to read many other posts, so some, or all,
