Hi Inimbrium. Sorry to hear that you have these issues. A lot of people complain about performance in SoaSE. But I've not seen anythings like you have, so far. I guess several more threads like this and Ironclad would finaly do somethings about it.

Damn, thats I some how missed ChatWindow.window, its there (at least chat messages)
I want to make those messages go away, because they drastically hurting my FPS (1.04). Is it possible ? Maybe its somewhere in \Sins\Window ? I removed part of the UI from there (it helped a bit) but still didnt find these messages part
The only difference is, we're smart.
Very questionable. But ignorant - thats for sure. And no, you cant count. "7 out of 7" - is a kindergarten statistics perception. Because even when its 1 out of 100 - game can not ship. Because thats like robbing about 2000-3000 people. And enough with this "Im a PC guru, and you're n00bs" sh*t. Try to prove it for change. Tell us, what can be possibly be wrong for me or Caydr, when every game works great exept Sins.
Short Answer: YES IT IS YOUR SYSTEM.
You cant count ? Have you seen how many threads about bad perfomance here ? Or maybe you cant read: all other games are running great. Even such resource heavy ones as AC and Crysis.
Okay, so, you're not a programmer, you don't actually know anything that can cause it, you don't actually know how and why it appears, you don't even know what exactly it is.. and yet, IC is supposed to magically wave their fingers and
Try pressing ctrl+shift+z and see what happens. That might help
It doesnt solve the whole thigs, but it definitely improves FSP. But its pretty hard to play without UI.
The PR about "working on older computers" relates to how users with AthlonXPs ,Celerons and Pentium 4s can still play the game with lowgraphic settings and reduced effects.
I dont have any noticable increase in FPS when I lower quality. As I said - thats CPU, not video issue.
Amount of units and AI. Oh, and malice is bugged at the moment. It brings every computer to a screeching halt when used on large fleets. But that isn't your problem, I guess.
I guess it is. On small maps game runs fine for me (aside of still not fixed bug with slowdown during chat/game messages)
You could try a system cleanup, remove tsr's (msconfig) do a defrag, scandisk, run regscrub, all the usual stuff. Is your ram actually running at specified speed, and the timming are at there optimal (Check overclock forums for your model, delivered ram is not always as specified on there site)

Sounds like your computer is bottlenecked. Somewhere there's a part not catching up to the others.
Guys, Crysis is running on high. For me and
fraps is the answer..
I dont use fraps, more ideas ?
I guess the PR about "working on older computers" was not entirely accurate
There is much shorter word for that.
My computer runs Crysis - all settings on High - at about 24 FPS average... better than I'm getting in Sins.
Same for me. And yeah, thats pretty ridiculous.
So where's the weak link that's reducing my performance?
Lack of code optimization, I guess. What is worse is that Ironclad completly ignoring such threads, and we (customers) even dont know if this ever gonna be fixed. Game is potentially nice, but still its wasted money in my case.
Im sorry that you have these too, but at least its good that there are already 2 persons with this trouble ( https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/307363 ), so may be devs will look into it. By the way I have this in all versions (in 1.03 too)
I have similar problem. Ill try new game on large map, but without Advent. Will see if it helps. chuck: Fix the first link url.
Oh, you mean the graphics that you're having trouble with. Sorry, I thought you were saying that all of Sins was outdated and unoptimized.
No, I dont mean my case. I mean Sins graphics in general. And I dont use word "outdated" at all. I think graphics in Sins is nice, but unoptimized - yes thats for sure. Because I remember playing Hegemonia like 5 years ago on my Geforce2Ti, and it handled it pretty well. And Hegemonia, I think had better graphics. While Sins requ
Reclaimer, Annatar11 and most terrible, this one https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/307465/#1688188
A 9600GT should be able to play Sins pretty well if a 7900GS (albeit, voltmodded) can.
SoaSE is a great game, but honestly that level of graphics could be handled by Geforce2Ti. Check Hegemonia if you dont belive me :) I dont know how Ironclad guys did optimizing, but it seams not very well.
Had these as well after playing with "effects" settings. 9600GT, drivers version - 174.74. After restarting game - all went to normal again. But unfortunatly thats the less significant of video issues I have with this game.
It looks I have similar problem. Earlier I posted here about chat messages slowing game down, but stil it was more or less playable. Today I tried large map (for the first time) and after about 2 hours, game began to slowing down. When I had pretty large fleet (60-100 ships) game was running at about 5 FPS. Then I just gave up. And no, that has nothing to do with my PC or software on it. Because I play games like Bioshock(DX9) and Call of Duty4 on max settings. Also
Damn.. after few hours of playing, slowdowns are becoming pretty annoying again, even with AA off. I tried uninstalling game and installing it again (both my legal version from snowball, and original stardock version that I got to test this situation)+ corresponding 1.03 patches. Nothing helps. I'll email this directly to ironcladgames and hope it will be fixed in upcoming updates.
Ok, I have found temporary solution - if turn off AA, these slowdons will disapear.
Thank you. This appears to be in manual .. I missed it somehow :)
- to regain logistic/tactics points. For example when I need to switch planet from defence policy to research/trade
Back on topic: may be there is a way to disable text messages (until they're fixed) ?
I'm going to guess we weren't talking American dollars, but some foreign currency?
No, we are talking about US dollars. But since average person's profit here is about 10 times less than in US, its more advantageous to sell games for a price that people can pay for it, since game copy production is low anyway.
I guess I cant do that with snowball version - different country, very different pricing levels. Here this game (and other) costs 12$, so I guess serials are not equal. But anyway I dont think its version problem.
