When I try to load this I get a mini dump. Anyone else have this problem? Cheers MarkL
Hi, Great idea but I seem to get errors every time I enter the code with Rapid share. I would really like to see them, but Rapid share is a problem for me at least. Any chance of hosting them in a different place next time? Cheers MarkL
With most space games I have tried all the maps are very small. I am guessing but the lanes are a way to simulate a large universe when in reality it is just a set of small maps. If the universe was one large map I think it may be too large to load into memory. But then again I could be wrong. The lanes thing seems to work very well and makes the game very playable. It also seems to give some order when rotating and zooming the whole galaxy. Without those lanes patterns I think
The cinematic camera in "company of heroes" comes to mind. Makes it good for replays. Best thing in the whole game. Cheers MarkL
This would have to be one of the most refreshing titles to come out in a long time, and with no major bugs. Some find it too easy some like me find it very hard so the balance must be pretty good overall. I think some of the forum negativity is because forums tend to be populated by the more experiences gamers, so Jo average is not really represented very well. If the 4x game side was increased too much it may be too hard for beginners, the forgotten gamers as they are not the vocal on
I do not know if it is possible, but if in an expansion planet buildings etc would be nice. Actually get to see what you are bombarding. Some some of connection with humanity. Maybe not as much as Star Wars Empire at War, but something along those lines. If you can see people or their structures it would give the worlds more meaning and attachment. Then we would really need better planetary defenses. Could the engine handle the extra zoom to go down to the planet surface? Even
If you are beginner like me, the AI does not run away. Crushes me every time, but who cares still having fun. Cheers MarkL
Please do not only cater for multi player. Us single players are customers as well, just not as vocal. I would like to see options for SP speed of the game. I am new to this sort of things and the game still plays a little fast for me. I would also like to see some sort of colonization / invasion options in 1.1 If we could see some planet based building as well that would be great. Maybe an option for an expansion. Sort of like StarWars Empire at War. Cheers MarkL
As an example of a game gone wrong, look at the sales of the new MS Flight Simulator FSX. By the time the average person can afford a PC to run it well it will be two versions behind. Now developers have to produce versions that support both FS2004 and FSX in the same box just to sell their titles. Also with FSX MS have virtually shot the mod community in the foot by making it too hard to make addons. They have not learn't that it is the freeware communities that have kept their game al
I just about agree with all that was said with one exception. Star dock does have copy protect and the worst type that I like. Activation. Lets be honest you have to have the patches so the games have to be activated full stop. But this has not stopped me from purchasing Star Dock titles. I just take the risk that I am at the mercy of one day not being able to play because I can no longer activate the patches. I still play a lot of my older titles and are very glad there is no activatio
Thanks, For a beginner the chart is a good starting point. Always appreciate what people provide free and put the time in to produce. Cheers MarkL
[quote]As a counter-opinion, I'll just say that I think a single player campaign would be a complete waste of time.I agree 100%. I never played the campaign in GalCiv II, or very many other TBS or RTSs. There are exceptions, like Starcraft or Homeworld, but an incredible amount of work went into those stories, and really, their replayability suffered as a result. I would far prefer a detailed and enhanced sandbox mode (more control over a generated universe) than a linear, scripted story.[/quote
If people could always provide a direct download link it would be better for us viewers. Viewing videos online is still jerky for me with ADSL. Cheers MarkL
Hi one question, how do you upgrade taxes, like the below statement. Do you mean just upgradeing a planets infrastructure? Page 26 of the manual says you can not adjust taxes. I obviously do not understand this bit. "You have a green planet at the beginning. The first thing you do, you should upgrade taxes on it. AI won't do it and it means you have 40% more income for first 10 minutes. It helps." I am slowly getting the hang of this game. Trying to understand these good guides
