unfortunatly the game has problems running on lower end systems, and yeah, 1920x1080 is the minimum. my system is 8gb memory, decent vid card, and gc4 still runs worse than all my other games, including games that require an internet connection. the minimum system requirements show that this system should be able to run it just fine, and it starts out ok, but by like turn 50 or so it starts getting really, really laggy, and every mouse movement i make takes 1-2 secs before the game moves the

oh, and stuff like giving destroyers "Attack + 200% when fighting fighter" might be a little over-powered. u shouldnt just need to throw in a few of those into your fleet and never have to worry about tiny ships again, cause then no one would want to use tiny ships cause they have way too big of a weakness. I love the idea of smaller ships having more defense vs larger, slower ships. but they're already weak and easy to pick off. designing a class of ship that deals +200% dmg vs them just see

there's some really good changes in there, very nice :) i esp like the combat changes and the research changes. the random research roll was very frustrating for many ppl, and could be pretty bad if u get very unlucky, but this system where u can pick what u want but get discounts for breakthroughs should solve that problem while still giving the random feel you were going for, very nice. a couple quick thoughts on the combat... I want to address what i see as a potentially big proble
OMG! The Shuffle Button! Guys, I feel shame now. I didn't even see that option. I'm going to start a NEW game and use the shit out of that option. Thanks for the great feedback everyone. I learned a lot in this thread.
lol, i remember not noticing it either my first time playing, had to get the info from someone on forums too :P the big difference between the current system and the one i mentioned above though is

i remember there being a lot of complaints about this. not a huge fan myself too. I still think that the best solution would be to have you able to pick the research you want, but have randomized available research options that are discounted that you can choose if you want to, rather than being forced to choose them. this allows players who want to to pick the path they want, but also gives ppl the option to do the randomized "switch it up research" that they tried to do with this game in or

i would love to see a combat upgrade :) i have actually stopped playing due to 2 main reasons... 1. The Combat. i threw out a lot of ideas back in beta for improving it, and i really think it still needs a revamp. it really seems like it was ignored by the devs for the most part, and really needs to be revisited. they even barely changed anything after I collected a bunch of feedback from lots of beta testers that pointed out that no one was using beams because of the huge imbalanc
@ Basilisk83 I would like to see your work out there, there are a number of my Startrek and Star Wars ships that are not cannon I get a lot of my design ideas from my Sci-Fi collection of books of which I have many Am and always will be a Sci-Fi nurd lol [e digicons]B)[/e] so if I can give you any advice drop m
Starting to notice many players are not filling out the description sections of their ship design and civ uploads. Players downloading have no information about the ship design or civ is about and what it does or can do. GC3 Workshop is full of this with ship designs and Civs without descriptions. As a player looking for content to add to my game I would avoid them because there is nothing there to tell me whats it about. Eventually these

just so u know, by the time they get the promethion to equal up the most of the other races in terms of pop growth, they'll already be way behind. the best strategy with them is to be very aggressive with them and make up for their slow growth rate by conquering other civ's planets. the promethion healing ability their commander ships have is a great way to use their extra promethion too btw.

i do have a few star trek and star wars civs in my own collection i was considering working on more and uploading, specifically the united federation of planets, because of all the ships from that civ that are already up on the custom ship section. would you advise against uploading those though? considering the names of those star trek ships in the custom ships, i think if anyone on that side was worried about copyright they prob would have said something by now, considering this happened a
Dont "create new faction" but "copy". If you copy a faction you get the same guilds.
just so u know i've had this work, but i've also heard reports from people saying that it didnt work for them. the official option to add factions should be added at some point in the future, so i wouldnt worry about factions too much till then, when we can actually hand pick them ;)
Yes it would be best if everyone just created their own designs from scratch and shared them with the community. I feel using the workshop is a privilege not a right and as a privilege it can be revoked for blatant abuse and inconsideration of other users designs. My thoughts for workshop guidelines. * If a user wants to modify another users original design it should be mandatory with the workshop privilege to contact

and the main offender is an 83... son of a... well for the record i'm Paratu1701 on epic (made it before i realized this account with this name was still here from 15 yrs ago). only one i've actually liked and downloaded so far is the defiant... awesome ship :) and while i'm def against pirating this stuff, for those that are making small changes or something and wanting to put them back up there as a slightly different version maybe... is there any way to make it so that any modified

wow, yeah that sounds like a bug. i just dont think anyone has noticed cause no one usually uses those +30%/ -20%hp items i think cause they'd rather have the +20% with no hp loss. if this is intended to have a fleetwide effect it def needs to get put into the description, but i'm really guessing this is a bug

i'd just like to voice my support for mrstartrek being a moderator for this. he seems to have a good blend of knowledge and passion on the subject, and it sounds like he would be very active and vigilant about this, which is exactly what is needed, i think.

yeah i think that the best way to deal with this is to have "trample" dmg that carries over to the next target. a fleet should be able to destroy multiple tiny ships in a round even with 1 weapon type. smaller ships could have higher dodge and accuracy to help even things out too. then a valid strategy for taking out lots of tiny ships could be to increase your accuracy so that you can hit smaller ships more easily, which i think makes total sense. and give beams higher accuracy

well it looks like it's about 20x more likely to be 1 than 2... so my guess is it's generating some random number with 1 decimal place, such as 0.1, 0.2, 1.1, 1.2, etc. and then it's rounding everything to 1, except for when u get an exact 2. so 0.1-1.9 (19 times out of 20) it rounds to 1, and on the 1/20 chance u get an exact 2 you'll actually do 2 dmg. hopefully this is not working as intended and they'll fix it to a more even distribution

mine gets pretty laggy the more i play too. worse system though, only 8g ram (i'm actually waiting to play more till i get another 8g i ordered). but similar problem with the more turns, the slower it gets. gpu 3d section is always maxed out at 100%, constantly using between 1.7g and 2g video card 3d memory, when the minimum and recommended for a video card is 1g. was gunna wait till my new ram came in (hopefully tomorrow) to try it out and write something up on the effects pre and post. kind
There is definitely something wrong there. The attack value shouldn’t exceed the max attack. I wonder if there’s some fleet buff that is letting it roll a higher number.
no, it's not a fleet buff. it's been reported by several ppl for a while... whatever the defense roll is, the attack roll will always be 1 higher so it can always do 1 dmg. happens with small, single ship vs ship battles all the time.</p
