According to my experience, it's impossible. So, if you have many NEW research to add, suggest make good arrange, and still can't find space to fit them, re-size the button smaller. I've remember research block's MAX number is 3. so re-size maybe a better way.

Open the mesh file, you can find the Ponit Waapon/Ability/Centre/Top/Exhuast.... These dummys make every effect creat at the pointed position and angle. Wish can help you.

I've tried made some new ship from 3dsMax. The first two(a simple frigate and a Capitalship) were successfuly. And now the third Bigger one has some problem may crash the game.
