the only ship i noticed it not building was siege frigates

just played a game as the vasari with a friend (who always plays tec) no pirates, locked teams, medium sized map, normal speed everything with 2 ai. I was starting to loose some ground after expanding from my friend attacking and along with another ai. i had 4-5 planets left and my friend had wiped out my fleet and still had the majority of his. i managed to get from 4 research structures to 8 and started the que for returning armada, i made it with about 4 planets left and 4 warp gates and a ne
This concept could help solve the problem of separation of control groups and fleets making it a better system then if they were separate or if they became the same thing. -if a user selects a fleet in the empire tree and control groups it, all ships that join the fleet become part of the control group automatically. alternatively you could have an auto join control group button in the fleet tactics menu allowing for more open ended selection, perhaps a combination of the two.
it has been said a bunch of times already but: -tactical fleet formations, i.e. ability to toggle placement of ships within a fleet, light frigates in front heavies in back etc. -Clean-up of current control group and fleet system, they need to be more meshed together.
I think it would honestly be a great idea to make fleets control groups, and control groups fleets, and to remove fleet tactics with planets and other tactless objects/buildings.
kind of like the 2000 elections too, haha
i guess it will have to do, yeah. i hate the feeling that the rest of the fleet might take longer to initiate an action then the control group (especially jumping.) i realize that more fleet tactics can be accomplished through a lot of micromanagement with the current system, but i haven't quite reached that point yet, formations seem like they might help.
thanks, i realize that newly built ships auto join fleet, but i want them to automatically join the control group of the rallied leader which doesn't seem to happen
normally speaking, i'm pretty sure all ships (except maybe colony?) all auto attack by default, and they 'normally' are set by default to automatically group into fleets (i've caught couple that weren't and had to set them myself) however you have to manually select control groups... even newly built ships set to rally on another ship with its own control group, argh argh argh... i'm not sure what you mean by auto-build though.
looked for the auto control group option and i am pretty sure its not there... and its most deffinately not a default game setting :SNIFF!: Reply: this is the case, however i find that user selectable formations could better suit more tactical battles, and would be better for certain combat applications haha... it could easily be placed over the current system with the automated formation selected by default and make the game much more fun! Edit: example: being able to select
no, it has neither of those options (to my knowledge, i will double check the auto join) no formations for sure, just cohesion and attack range within fleets; formations would improve it greatly, nothing fancy just a few simple ones like in homeworld 2. And because of it, i find myself less engaged in battles.
would it be possible to have ships (newly built) that are set to rally on another ship join its control group 'automatically' as a menu option or something, PLEASE! -side note: this one probably isn't going to happen... but please add basic formations equivalent to the 3 "strike-force" stances(?) in homeworld 2; like frigate line, capitol phalenx, etc?
Thank you for promptness. I should rephrase, whenever I have a rally point set to a ship in a control group the newly built ship automatically becomes a part of the control group; however it starts off at the bottom of the list in the empire tree, as apposed to being next to it's type. It seems as if it won't be a problem if control groups are no longer viewable from the empire tree.
a) This is a small catch that I have noticed (possibly a bug,) control groups have little to no ship organization in the side submenu with ships newly added to a control group. I was wondering if ships will be organized by ship type in the side menu I.E. capitol ships with capitol ships flaks with flaks etc, with ships added after initial grouping. b) I am assuming that fleets are separate entities from control groups (correct me if i am wrong) will fleets be viewable from the side menu in t
