1. Better graphics, better models, moving turrets, biggr planets. 2. Real diplomacy, random pirate attacks (not timed). 3. More unique races...I dont care what you say, I shouldnt have to get a microscope to tell the difference in races. Just naming something different doesnt make it unique. 4. A little bit more lore. I still have NO idea what Sins someone commited, or anything about Solar energy etc. This would be nice. Just my 2c.
The Xtended Mod for the game X3 Reunion had some brilliant space scenes and special effects. Here is a link to show some of their space scenes, perhaps it can give you some ideas on how to make space more visually enticing:http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/gaming-discussion/24110-xtended-mod-x3-reunion.html i just read up on that game, never heard of it till now. does it run good with the patches and does it have widescreen resolutions? fyi there's a new one coming out Q3 2008. http://ww
You people really need to listen to yourselves. A lot of people put a lot of time into this great game. Whats the matter?, the ould attention span gettin too short these days? Thanks to comments like these the quality of games in general has gone seiously downhill cos developers start thinking people dont want to play games with long term appeal any more, and the market becomes dominated by games aimed at a mass market. Come on, you know the type of games im talking about. Just about 80%
#4 It's very pretty, especially if you turn up the graphics effects quality...
This is the only point I dont agree on...at all. A little...little step up from HW2 IMO. I got everyhing full, and...well just doesnt do it for me. Planets too small, ships dont have movable parts...turrets, the construction ships dont have a "construct animation" etc. Just little things. Ill give them game thumbs up in the other areas...but not graphics.
Sadly no. Although Sins is a great game I guess I was expecting something more. I know it sounds silly, but I am still hung up on the graphics and lack of in-depth combat. Its nit-picky I know. It it seems this game is so similar to Sword of the Stars. Even the same-game in mulltiplayer. So I guess its just to familiar to me. I actually fired up X3 again with some new mods and see myself playing it again for months. I sure do hope mods and such add life to the game. A
I would higly...HIGHLY suggest X3 Reunion. Not only does it look and play amazingly...but tons of support, mods, scripts, and still after all these years an active community. So many mods that it adds hours to the game...seriously. One of the BEST stories ever as well. There is also in the 2nd or 3rd quarter a new X3 game coming out. And finally...it is the most like EVE but offline. One warning. Dont expect to just jump into it. Its a large game and takes time to gra
I personally think HW2 was the best. But yeah...get both. A fun game and cool story.
I got below-good reviews (no suprise since it wasnt a huge name) but seems like it had a good dedicated following. Really wish the community was still active. Seems Starshatter and Sins are so damn fun and original that more folks would have checked it out. Well when I am not playing Sins Ill be checking out more of Starshatter.
I came across this game yesterday, and it seems it was made almost 100% by one indie developer...by one I mean one person. Its seems to be space combat sim where you start out as a lone fighter pilot ala X-3 or Freespace 2 and get promotions until you are commanding capitol ships and carrier groups ala Homeworld RTS style. Anyway, I ended up buying it the box+DL and so far have been pleasntly surprised. Seems they are simliar to SD as far as no copy protection, huge modding ca
I would just like to see it go BOTH ways. Like someone said earlier...seems silly to be asked to do this and that, but not be able to request. Also, the requests ARE silly sometimes. I just ignore them all because it became an annoyance and not immersion. The timer thing makes it worse. Same with the Pirate attacks. Why would a Pirate tell you when they are attacking? Shouldnt it be random times?
wee, people playing the beta when the FINAL RELEASE is out, then complaining about it! hum dee hum...
Didnt play beta. If you read the OT its in the first paragraph...fanboy.
X3 is a 4x game as wel No, no it's not. It's a trading sim that focuses on one area at a time. Asking for anything like x3's level of detail in a game of this scale is silly.
Dont think anyone saying X3 isnt a 4x game has played it. Its not a trading game...IF you dont want it to be. I barely did trade in that game. Factions, fighting, pirates, etc... And, all of it WAS going on in different areas at the same time. Large b
I was really under-impressed with the graphics. While they are not bad, they are far from "pretty". The ships models look neat, but there is no eye candy at all. With a space game it seems you can crank up ship models/details since the background of "Space" is pretty barren. Think X-3 Reunion. Pretty game great shadows...even just looking at space stations or plants was a treat. Even in a system that had 1k+ asteriods, planets, ships, factories in it etc. <br
Free cap ship? Huh? Please explain.
If you can manage without trade in Total War I'm impressed. The game is built around trade. And updates to Medieval 2 have much-improved AI that actually wants to stay allied with you.
Right. Thats what I miss about other strat games. Seems no rhyme or reason for someone to break alliances. Also, I forgot to add, I play single player...and dont plan on playing online anytime soon if at all. So of course the diplo stuff doesnt apply to online.
Heard about Sins a long time ago. I dont like beta. First time I have played waas yesterday. Ill keep it short. I can go into the great stuff about the game, but seems everyone already knows what they like about Sins so no point in going into those. First off I am an "older" gamer and have seen pretty much everything in a game, so it takes quite a bit to impress me...so dont get me wrong, I am liking the game for the same reasons other folks are. After playing for about 5 hour
HOLD UP!!! I didnt start this thread to flame anyone...or complain. I have my code now, but REALLY was wondering what the point of the pre-order was. I dont like to Beta games...so thats not an issue. Sorry if people got bent out of shape, but my thread was a serious question...not bitch at Stardock flame. I was REALLY just curious to why. You got into Beta?
Nope. Even if ordered earil
^^^^ Makes the point exactly, can someone quantify what exactly I have gained by preordering?
This is what I want to know...
and i prordered expecting prioity Which is what you're getting, considering most retail stores aren't putting it on shelves today.
Not considering you can just click buy now...thats priority. Can you Cancel a pre-order?
IF you're certain you're going to be around the afternoon of launch then you are better off just doing it then. The point of pre-ordering anything is so that you can fire and forget.
Strange logic. Or maybe its just me? I always had the impression that pre-ordering was done to ensure a copy, and SPEED up the process. If your not in a hurry to get the game...why pre-order? Like you said above, if your not a hurry to get that book...why not w
Not really sure why someone would pre-order, then wait for a key when you can just "Buy Now" and get it faster. Did I miss something? Seems pre-ordering just put an obstacle up in the process.
