Saved games are generally incompatible from patch to patch. You don't "lose" them, but you can't play them anymore, either. Impulse is the updater for Sins, and all it does is update the changed/added files, so it brings you right to the current version. If you're playing pre-1.05 you may have to update to that first; I'm not positive.

Resource income shouldn't go negative-you could theoretically get out of debt by selling resources to the black market-but this kind of hinges on your not having lost any of your metal/crystal mines at the planets you had to retake, as you can't rebuild them since that costs credits. Another option is to turtle down on your home planet and perhaps two or three others-you say you're being attacked on all fronts, so the negative income planets should be bombed soon enough. You'r

You must be using a very old release of 9 (I found several in my searching and was unable to identify the "current" one-good thing I found the original installer). I never updated to 10 and the forums work fine for me, and they do no complaining whatsoever. Then again, I'm still on XP-are you by chance on Vista?

You can play other people with the mods so long as they have them installed and enabled as well. I'm not certain which if any of the mods you've mentioned work on the current version (1.15), or for that matter Entrenchment. If you don't get Entrenchment you can't play Entrenchment with people who have it, but you might be able to convince them to play Vanilla with you. I think, based on my not being able to see any reference to time up above, that Varsi meant that $30 is n

Technically it's not (supposed to be) possible, but you can try installing it via SDC , which only has it up to 1.05. You'll probably have to uninstall and redownload, though-I don't believe it'll simply do a downgrade.

I would agree that that is a flaw in the ability, yes. It would be nice if that flaw were addressed in some way. I still think it works well as is. I'm not real clear on the whole "two level 6 cap ships running around" idea. You have one cap ship that is at least level 6, and one cap ship that is...any level, really. It could be level 3...and it dies...and you build a new one and save time and/or resources and/or experience getting it "back" to level 3. <p
