I just located this topic and got really excited. I stopped playing any games from Stardock many years ago after I had a disastrous incident with Stardock/Impulse and lost the ability to play a few games I own. While the tactical battles go on for another player - allow the remaining, non-participants certain functionality; such as chat, their statistics, designing units, reviewing things, etc. Throw up an icon of two swords clashing anywhere on the map that has a tactical battle going on which has not yet been resolved that turn, for clarity purposes. Update: Impulse seems to have messed up the installation. Connection is terrible- can barely log into impulse and downloads are dreadfully slow. In comparison, Steam is currently doing over 1 MB/second and Microsoft (Xbox 360) is doing 5,5 MB/second. Yes, megabytes - we're on a 20 Mbit connection. So it appears the problem might be impulse related. I was already wondering if there would be files corrupt or otherwise missing, both from the 'speech' issue as well as the log abov

So far I've had very little luck with Galciv II. I re-installed it on my new machine after a long period of not playing it (I've played it ONCE after purchase and that was it) and now I remember why.... The game just doesn't work properly. Attempt 1 - Dread Lords. Tutorial section empty, how do I learn how to play. Campaign section empty, no contents anywhere. Erm? Attempt 2 - Dark Avatar. Only one tutorial, it only shows how to start a game. Thanks I can figure that one out..
