my laptop can run the beta alright, though i haven't tried a 10-player map or anything. P4 3Ghz 1GB RAM (shared with video card) Mobility Radeon 9000 (your x200 is the next more recent generation so you should actually have better performance) If you have ~1GB RAM and are running XP, I think you'll be able to run the game at least on smaller maps and lower graphics settings.
I've got very similar specs, just trade the 7950 for an ATI x1950 (pretty close in performance anyway) and I haven't had any problems whatsoever. Hell, even my old laptop with just under a gig of RAM and a Radeon 9000 can run the game pretty smoothly. Maybe its an Nvidia problem? got the latest drivers and everything?
well if this game sells as well as I hope it does, those CEs won't last long.
ok, related question> If I buy with tokens now, will I be able to get the Collectors Edition down the road or is it pre-order only?
I haven't been able to find anything with the search engine, so I'll ask here: If I do the buy through TGN with tokens thing, is there currently a beta for me to take part in, and if so how much longer will it even be up? Will there be a continuing beta after release to test patches, or is the beta at this point pretty much a sneak peek at an older version of the final game with no actual testing function?
Despite having not played the game I must agree with the poster. I absolutely love the basic idea of the black market, to the point that I would prefer it over the more common market mechanic found in those RTS that use it. Similarly, I think the bounty system is a great addition, especially as tied in with the pirate game mechanic. All that aside, though, I think that these systems need to be pretty easily accessible. I've seen this question asked, but not answered, so I'll ask it again: If I pre-order from TGN, using tokens, am I getting just the digital download or can I get the Collectors edition with the soundtrack CD and the poster? In other words, do I have to choose between a week of beta access and some extra tokens or the Collector's Edition swag and a boxed copy?
