Edix, TimeDemo's are not REAL WORLD performance. Know what real world is? Download FRAPS, record the frames from a particular level doing your thing. It'll give you a list of your FPS. THAT is real world performance.

No, its not a good deal, SLI will give you a 20% difference in FPS tops. That $200 could have gone to a 8800GTS 512MB that would have created over a 200% boost in what you're currently getting. Also 3DMark doesn't mean crap in REAL WORLD performance. 775 is officially dead when Nehalem is released, and will be a HUGE jump in performance that you'll wish you waited. The speed of technology rises exponentially, so while you will be good for a few years for general computing, you'
My intent is to get something near top-of-the-line and to get components (GPU-wise at least) that are the newest. The GT200-coded future nVidia GPU is rumored to have support for DirectX 10.1, so obviously I'd want that over an older DirectX-supporting GPU (given that it is still faster or just as fast as the previous generation).
NVIDIA has stated that they will skip all of DX10 and wait for DX11, so it is highly unlikely DX10.1 will be included. Although the performance
That's a 70% increase, 1.7 multiple. 170% increas would be 20+34 = 56fps
70% is not a 1.7 multiple, it is a .7 multiple. A 170% increase would be 20+14 = 34FPS, 20 being 100% and 14 being 70%.
No, I meant what I said. Say the 8800GTS 320MB gets 20FPS in X game at X settings, the 8800GT gets 34FPS in the same game at the same settings, that is a 170% increase in FPS. I'm not being a twit, you can get the 8800GT for $170 and less from a quality manufacturer. The 8800GTS 320 will cost you around $120 from a quality manufacturer, so the difference in price justifies the boost in performance.
I disagree, the 8800GTS 320MB is outdated, as it was released over a year and a half ago. It has been replaced by the 8800GT, which yields a minimum of 120% performance increase at lower resolutions and up to 170% increase in performance in high resolutions. There are dozens of reviews on the net that show the performance from DDR3 is currently minimal for its pricetag. Also you will not see a performance boost from it for at least another year, at which Nehalem will be released by Inte
Wasted money? Sad? seriously though if you got an opinion i want to hear it you wont make me mad i promise.People are assholes. You have a 790i you can crank that Q6600 up to 3.7 easy.I'm running on a P5N-E Sli which has problematic overclocking holes, but i have it stable at 3.4ghz and am leaving it there for now.Anyway congratulations that's a pretty damn solid computer.
Your motherboard isn't as important as your cooling setup. 3.6 is the highest you can safely go on a
First off you wasted money on the motherboard. Since it only uses DDR3 you wasted money on that which you gain no performance benefits not worth the price of the RAM. You can get lower latency DDR2 RAM for a significantly cheaper price. Then your graphics card is outdated and hardly worth purchasing. And you're going SLI, which is a HORRIBLE idea seeing how the performance increases are minimal and hardly worth the price. You could have saved over $200 by swapping out the 790i for a P35
New rig? Wow, so very sad.
One word: Sexy
Looks very nice, has a definite Tau'ri feel to it.
I watched the video (Awesome mod btw) and those siege weapons were awesome. Only thing I thought looked odd was after the Revelation's blast hits the planet, the burst ring was perpendicular to the planet, instead of parallel. Maybe it was the camera angle, but thats what it looked like.
Ingame shot of the Klingon Bird of Prey (Work in Progress). Still got some bugs to iron out, but we're making progress in getting ships ingame now at least. This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 1024x768.
Damn that looks nice, Bird of Prey is one of my favorite ships :D
Thanks for reply Naoza, ya im still trying to fix these stuff but hopefully the game play is ok? For the problems, please post some screenies and make sure you install it correctly.
I was just trying to throw some constructive criticism in there, your mod is hella fun and just trying to help out a little. Overall gameplay was rather fun, the changes you made created a fun twist. I'll play a much longer session tomorrow and post more of my thoughts, if you'll tak
Dammit, I thought I could keep my patience for the mod but after that video I don't think I can keep it together any longer =D Flipping awesome, I'm definitely looking forward to your guy's mod.
My god, that is freaking INSANE! That is some amazing work you're putting together there.
Oh theres two folders called superminimod the first one holds the second superminimod folder, that is the folder you put in the mod folder to be activated (one with the readme).
Yeah ok, works now. Few things I noticed: 1. If planets are close to each other, pirates with the insane target radius will be able to attack from their gravity well to yours. 2. Frigates and Cruisers still have their default targeting radii, which means they have to go practical
Hey, mod sounds great, but im having a problem, its a little weird but i enable the mod and nothing happens, the normal sins game just runs. Iv tried other mods and they work fine, any suggestions?
Same thing happens to me as well...
It doesn't seem to work when I enable it. Capital ships stats are same as vanilla, and no added Frigates or Cruisers. Are you sure you uploaded the right file? 3MB compressed seems rather small for your mod.
y does it sound like war of the worlds?
Its completely, totally different. If you read the Worldwar series by Harry Turtledove, you'll understand completely. And if you liked them, you can continue it with Colonization.
Why is it that people assume that I can't manage money? If I wasn't a good budgeter I'd probably buy Sins without hesitation.
Because you're complaining about the extremely reasonable price of a NEW game that is incredibly well made.
It's all in the gameinfo folder in the gameplay entity file. Just scroll down. It allows you to increase or decrease ship speeds and research speeds by a certain percentage for each of the in-game speed options. I'll be spending all sunday converting all the files into binary. If it doesn't work im going to be VERY pissed off.
Thank you! I wouldn't have found that for the life of me lol. Once again, thanks for an awesome mod :D
Icedude, love the mod, been a fan of it since its release :D The only issue I have with the latest version is ships are significantly slower than normal, even with speeds on "Fast". However I did enjoy the tactical element of it, especially when strikecraft were faster than everything else. However I think a 130-150% speed increase is slightly needed. If there is something I can change until the next update, if ship speeds are going to change, I'm more than willing to make the adjustmen
Seriously, there are only a few options that come to mind. 1. A robotic race 2. Organic ships with their own conscious 3. Some sort of "god"
The lore in this game is so rich and engaging that a solid story driven campaign would be amazing. I do believe I read somewhere the devs are working on it, so there's nothing to worry about.
