I was playing a 16 planet me v ai hard and it got to a stalemate - I was playing TEC, AI was playing Vasarii... Anyway, after about 2 hours the AI was throwing fleets at me, enough to stop my fleet growing big enough to attack AND defend, so I just built three of the TEC supers and nuked him until he went bankrupt, which took about 4 shots from each (12 in total). AI's attacks stopped, and my fleet owned them in 10 minutes. Was this strategic? No, it was brute force. Would it w

I hate to be the guy who shouts "noob" but if you find yourself in a position where you cannot move forward due to enemies attacking you, it is mostly your own fault - if you cannot create a diplomatic situation where you have only 1 or 2 enemies on an 8 player map, then you deserve all the punishment you can get. Also remember, this is sim game so losing IS an option - it's not some FPS (although I love 'em) where the only end to the game is killing off all the enemy. And the
Hi there, I had 8 combat research posts and after researching the big planet-killing thing I decided to get rid of one, to replace it with a media hub. However, this then disabled my (by then 3) Novarius? cannons from working, charging up, doing anything at all - this seems really counter intuitive, is it a bug?
grab the nearest defenable 2-4 entities, turtle in with big defenses (eg 35 turrets or similar) - dont spend money on Research other than ones leading to the big cannon (Novius?) and once you have that researched (costs about 20k to do) build 2 to 4 of them (scuttle your turrets, you should have a moderate fleet by now) and then nuke the solar system, making your enemies poor as church mice
so what is the problem with using the HTTP or FTP port rather than 6112 - surely this would make it work on most machines?
in that settings file that was posted above, it seemed to intimate that each AI had its own timer for when it will give you a mission? Surely a new mission roughly once every 10 to 20 minutes would be closer to achievable? Rather than the seemingly one every minute at the moment?
I haven't run into this myself yet, but I have only played one game since beta (no time at the mo) However, the whole of human technology has been a response to a need, and the whole of defensive technology has been as a counter to offensive technology - better armour stops arrows. Take for example nuclear missiles - when these first emerged they were a serious threat, but within 30 years we now have a viable defence plan in the form of tracked ground-to-air missiles.
- nevermind, mistpost -
Hi, I pre-ordered and installed the beta a few days ago, and the games works fine... but when I go into SDC in the games tab it gives me this message : ""Failed to validate your sin, sose registration information." Anyone else epxerienced this?
