if you buy it online, they will send you a Cdkey via email and you need to download stardocks and make a account add the key to it, and just download it and play. i bought it online, and i say go for it it a freaking great game!, altought i ran into some problems with my online purchase, got billed x2 for one copy of the game prolly something wrong with the preorder system so you should be fine, since its not preorder anymore :)
