Guys you need to keep up... https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/333021/page/1/#1978214 First thing to be aware of: Installing the BETA of Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment overwrites your existing Sins install. So you'll want to back up Sins if you want to switch back and forth.

Pretty quiete year for strategy games. I think Sins is the overwhelming fav for my strat game of the year. Next year however is a different case. Good thing Sins came out this year. Good job Ironclad! If you guys really put your best into the micro expansions, I'm confident Sins could hold its own against the juggernaut titles next year!
Guess the black hole didn't form, that or they never began the experiment.
The experiment has been delayed. There is a crack in the LHC and currently undergoing repair work. Experiement is expected to begin feb/march 2009
Well that was a fast download...well for those with the Beta...Finally...
Not to mention...I think versus mode will be very popular. I think it may be the main thing most people play when its out. Versus mode has even more replayability.
Dont mess with this lady...I found that other zombies attack the Witch. ANd she kills them without even moving [e digicons]:D[/e]
Quoting fragieD, reply 3Yeah its very addictive. Heavenfall, people asked the same question with TF2 when it was released. And that only had 3 maps on release(or something like that). Think of all the new things they can add to add longevity. And user made maps etc. New characters? achievement packs, new weapons. The random location of zombies and zombie bosses add a lot of replayability and tension. A lot of oh shit!
Seriously...those are no where near what Left 4 Dead offers you.

While I appreciate the commitment to quality, I must say I'm very disappointed .[e digicons]v_v[/e] This is especially infuriating for loyal fans who have waited with anticipation for new content. Tip: Dont put out a release date until you guys are very sure. It is better to be Blizzard(Its done when it done) than Valve in this case. Promising micro expansions on relatively short time span(in Valve's case episodic gaming) and not delivering is painful for fans. Take
Just to get one thing straight....World In Conflict doesn't have any in game advertising except for the intro screen of nvidia. All billboards, fast food joints etc are fictional. One of the "In game advertisement' in WiC
WiC is a great game. But their community is in a state of flux seeing that they had been dropped by Activision and the Xpack indefinetely put on hold. While I'm quite certain they will find a publisher, the community has been lagging ever since. WiC beeing a very online multiplayer focused game, i think community is a very big factor. I'm speaking as a former WiC player myself. I sold my copy. RA3 while not out looks like it will have quite a big community. Where I'm at, it seems it g
Great potential here. Maybe we can learn together as you learn new stuff. I got a 3D project underway that requires me to build a prototype of something that needs to be rendered in real time(for university of course). I would recommend the Ogre3D engine for any 3D real time rendering work. Its an open source 3D engine. Not quite as easy as XNA but its not a game engine. BTW are you using the express edition of VS? That is simply quite atrocious if you want to use it for other stuff.
I'm torn between the two and can't make up my mind on which to get. [e digicons]o_O[/e] So which will it be for you? Only one can survive! Farcry 2 or Left 4 Dead? Your opinions please [e digicons][/e]
You already won when the 2 enemy AIs surrendered, there can't be another win if you choose to continue playing
True...but shouldn't this last faction cease to exist instead of still magically being alive somewhere else? They still put bounty on me...I've wiped out the entire map...Diplomacy still works with them :p
This is a small bug but upon building the novalith cannon, the button for firing it is greyed out even after it has a full charge. But I could click on this button and then the button becomes enable(it wasn't disabled but the button was rendered as disabled). This only happen the first time you want to fire it.
I started this 2V2 single player game where i teamed up with an AI. After i took both the enemy factions(they surrendered), I chose to continue playing. At this stage my AI ally declared war and i went on to crush em. However I now have conquered all the planets and this enemy faction does not exist on the map anymore. Oddly enough this faction still manages to put a pirate bounty on my head. I manage to out bid them and this pirate fleet always just hand around the edge of the pirate base(since
What? Is this for real? Are they dropping Massive Entertainment? They are a great developer...made great games and great engines...agreed with what all of you guys have said. I'm thinking they might find some other publisher. I'll be surprised if they cant find a publisher...sure many would be willing to snap them up.
I think there should be a small picture or info on who has the highest bounty on their head in this new tab.The left part of the window shows who has the highest bounty currently, and the button to the right is to increase it.
Yeah i just realised that. But i swear that in one game it didn't register when the AI put a higher bounty on my ally...maybe it was just slow...I need to test this more...
I want to comment about this just a bit. I find it not that helpful playing a 2V2 or any game that has alliances because you wont get to see if the enemy has put a higher bounty on your ally. And there is no game message if such a bounty is put over your ally. I think there should be a small picture or info on who has the highest bounty on their head in this new tab.
Yes i can atest to this. I used to get slow downs when i hover over anaything and get the unit card...but now that seems to be minimised but when there is a whispers...its slows down a lot more now. I'm using a HD3850.
There's a key difference. Steam came bundled, operational, and officially launched patched with the games, such as Half Life 2. Everyone knew, upon purchase, that Half Life 2 would have Steam. With Sins, Impulse was just an empty suit nobody knew much about. I don't know what Valve did with Half Life 1, but if they required Steam for updates to it after having released stand-alone patches for over a quarter of a year (time periods are also critical), then I would have had the same
Doesn't Valve do the same with their games and Steam? I think its just a more convenient way of updating a game.
At the moment, we are experiencing overkill...too many pyros in a team. Hopefully things will settle down and with a more balanced team, the strategic options are limitless.
