So, my copy of Sins finalllly arrived at the EB in downtown Vancouver last night(fyi 3 copies are there on the shelves as of last night). Got home and installed, but had to work on music (work before play) The music went into overtime and before I knew it my girl finished work and came over... (rule 1: If girl is not into game, NEVER game when she is over) Thus, I have had Sins on my computer for over 14 hours but I have not even had a chance to run the exe! This is now the longest a game has

Splineter3 said: Come on now guys just digitally download it. I live in Toronto but knew it would be a long wait even in the big city. I considered it but it looked like a lot of people were having issues with the download. I used steam for HL2EP2 so it's not a technology or online purchase fear. I honestly never heard of Stardock before before Sins- perhaps in time I will trust Stardock like I trust Steam. That, and like to hold and smell the shiny, new game in i
Stoffer said: Well here in Vancouver, it is supposed to be here tomorrow, looks like I'll have to kill staticstarter to get the one copy they'll bring in, oh wait, you didn't here that from me.... Ok. Corner of Dunsmuir and Granville, 11:59 tonight. bring a knife and we'll 'talk' it out. :HOT:
Stopped by EB downtown vancouver last night, reserved a copy. but they won't get the next shipment until monday! I mean WTF is up with that!? which means I have to keep trolling these forums in order to get my SSE fix.
Although I'm all for adding new abilities, designation of flagship is usually about personal pride. Which one of the two is the pride and joy of your empire? But, what I think would be great is if flagship designation would create an "aura of inspiration" to the other ships that in that same fleet/gravity well. Perhaps a small attack bonus, or minor upgrade in armor, etc. The Tau Empire race in WH40K: Dawn of War RTS has an "Etherial" Leader unit which does this sort of
@Craig Good thing Ironclad is based here in Vancouver. I heard dem Noveh Scotshuns just got that internets thingamajig yesturday!
It is obvious EB and other retail chains will buy limited stock at first- considering it's an indie developer and their first title to boot. If the initial purchase order sells fast they will order more and in increased quantites.
Eteri, u gotta put the effort in and just call em up. one thing about EB is because they specialize in games they know when titles will arrive. When I called Bestbuy and Future Shop, they were a bunch of doofuses. hell, is "doofuses" even a word?
Of course there are similarities. every game created draws from games already done. It's called influences. Just like in music, art, film, and literature.
Well, I could always leave work early and head to Ottawa. Oh wait, I live in Vancouver- only 4000kms away. EB in Vancouver will have the game in tommorrow. I'm going to reserve a copy tonight so I don't get screwed by the "oh-we-only-brought-in-2-copies-and-they-all-sold-out-in-five-minutes. sosorrykthxbye" BS.
Unfortunely, due to the recent advertising scandal and the firing and resignations of editors and writers, I can't take Gamespy as a legitimate review source anymore. Although it's great that they covered the game and gave it a positive review. Ironclad could've got a perfect 10 for Sins if they paid for lots of advertisement. I'm glad they didn't waste their money. Sins will be the indie hit of the year.
@Blair Good! Just don't let ICO turn into an over-competitive, bad-natured, gaming ladder like battle.net. WC3 was so un-fun online I had to quit.
Just because you don't know about what lies beyond your borders doesn't mean someone else (aka pirates) haven't been there. It's completely plausible they'd be there before you. And in the gameplay-mechanics sense they exist for three reasons: 1) To act as annoyances, and harassment forces. 2) To be hired by you or your enemies in the harassment of other. 3) To act as xp 'leveling' for you Capital Ships as you proceed to colonize outward. Just like in WC3, with creepi
2. The AI seems to use them to distract me. I finally decide to do a mission, get them up to 30%... cool, ok. I get another mission, a tougher one needing more of my fleet to go into the other enemy territory. Ok, so I set up defensive structures and go in. While I'm mid-fight, I get an alert that I'm being attacked, and look back and see 15 siege frigates from the faction that gave me the mission pounding at one of my colonies. And as my defenses slowly wear them down, (rarely fast enoug
EB Canada, in Vancouver, BC says the game is going to be on their shelves this fri. the 8th. Wish I could just walk into Ironclad and buy the game being that they're right here in this city. ugh.
Starcraft is old and played and I can't fly space ships. Homeworld doesn't have multiplayer. If you want a game with morale why not play galCiv2? Why should I have any empathy for my civilization? Why can't I play the tyrant? Why can't I rule my world with an iron fist? My people work because otherwise I flood their planet with toxic gas and just repopulate with prisoners from another planet. You find me another multiplayer RTS game where I can save my place and fly space ships around capturi
hey Shaky010, My point is even though my strategy provided me to achieve my goal I get penalized for it, I now have to deal with focusing more on production and propaganda due to the scripting thinking I have lost a major offensive. That’s the hard part to determine, if someone sacrificed ships to achieve a greater goal or if the ships sacrificed was a bad move. I would like to think that any great leader of an empire would have to do some explaining to his people that
I was going to ask the OP: "Why, are you looking for a date for the prom?" But there's a "Miss" in her name... Then again based on WindexGlow's stats, there's a 90% chance she's a he. Whatever, Don't mind me: I'm bored at work and I'm trolling the forum. ugh.
I dunno i mean i would be kinda pissed if i was under attack and was loosing and having to deal with morale as well. not only would production go down, ships would be effected and not run at 100%. But i would run the risk of planets turning. I mean thats a hell of a lot of micro managing to make sure everything runs smoothly again. As for the other person the momentum that they get from winning a few battles would put them at such an advantage it wouldn’t be funny. I mean think about it.
RadRadRoboTank, If all you want is to destroy ships and buildings then why are you interested in a game with 4X in it? Why build your empire if you don't have any empathy for the citizens that die, or the losses you incur? You should play starcraft or homeworld, where the effects of war are inconsequential once the mission is over. death and loss in those games are without reprecussions.
yea, I only said Diplomacy Screen becasue I wasn't quite sure where it should go. I wouldn't want the devs to put too much effort into creating a new page for it- unless the really want to.
For a future patch or update I think Ironclad should create casulty records. When you or your enemy declare war Military Deaths, Civilian Deaths, Wounded should be recorded in a sort of stats counter section of the diplomacy page. Every ship (frigates and capitals, gunships and fighters) have a crew count, and even when taking damage personnel would get wounded or killed. The idea is that a long, protracted war could have huge loss in life, Morale accross the empire could suffer. P
