Does anyone know if Society is still in production by Stardock? I have tried to find this information on google, but overall the most recent news is from 2006 :(. As an mmorts, Society sounds like it could be a great idea which is why im asking if anyone knows if Stardock is still working on it.
Actually, I don't recall any 4X or space strategy game... or any game whatsoever which simulated a fully animated solar system.
Shattered Suns, which just came out recently has orbiting planets. I played the Beta briefly, and did not like it, and it got horrible reviews. However, I did like the idea of not only orbiting planets, but also orbiting moons.
Ive only played Starcraft a few times and would agree that it is definatly a better choice for only three players. However, it has an odd system where moves go on stacks...its kind of difficult to explain, you may want to take a look at the manual and see if it appeals to you.
dthif1980, I got Twilight Imperium 3rd edition and its expansion quite a while ago. Myself and 5-6 other friends played this game consitantly between once and twice a week
Except Shattered Suns does not have multiplayer. (unless they decided to add it in within the last month). I was interested in this game when I first heard about it about a month or two ago, however, when I found Shattered Suns had no multiplayer, I no longer cared about it.
The original Oregon Trail was AWESOME! Yukon Trail was fun, but Oregon Trail was infinitely better.
There is one reason I am not interested in this game: THERE IS NO MULTIPLAYER!!! :SURPRISED: :SURPRISED: :SURPRISED: See this thread for reasons it is not multiplayer: [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/309763"]WWW Link[/link]
I was excited for Shatted Suns when I saw this thread and looked the game up. I started to notice something about the information regarding the game however that is quite shocking, there is nothing about muliplayer in the game. This struck me as odd, so i posted about this on their forums and this is the response: "Good question. There's no multiplayer in this release of the game. We're planning to add it in a future update, expansion, or sequel. It's funny you mention Sins of a Solar E
Rise of Nations Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots Starcraft Company of Heroes Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds World in Conflict Hearts of Iron II Sins of a Solar Empire My personal favorite in this list: Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots I saw Rise of Nations on a couple of lists, but it seems like it did not get the attention it deserves. Rise of Nations is a great game, I still play it multiplayer.
When I started this thread, my computer was turning off in the first couple minutes of the game every time I tried to play a LAN game...this has not happened since last weekend when it occurred about ten times. I have no idea what was causing it, I did not touch the hardware, but I'm not complaining. We were able to get through about 3hrs 45mins of a Sins game with 6 people until I eventually got the mini dump that we have always been getting around this time. This has at least remained cons
The Huge Random Map will make a system with 5 stars. However, only 2 of these stars will have any players around them. The other three will never have players around them. These are for colonizing. So there will be 5 on one and 5 on the other if you are playing with 10 people. Don't believe me? Look at the notepad of the map inside the Program Files. It is designed to only have 2 of the 5 stars occupied from the beginning.
Anyways, until next weekend, there will only be 2 computers that I can test this problem on, and right now as they are both in a LAN game, the problematic one does not seem to want to turn off as it has been doing. So I cannot recreate the problem, so I would not be able to tell if what I do to it fixes it. When I get friends on the LAN with thier computers the problem will probably reoccur and that is when I switch HDDs and run the Ultimate Boot CD. Thanks for the help so far, I will let yo
Unless the hardware is EXACTLY identical all but gfx card, dvd/cdrom(though this can cause problems too) HDD, ram, PSU, and sound card(though if moving from machine WITH creative sound card to machine WITHOUT, this can also cause problems), IE: Same bios version, same CPU model, exactly the same mobo etc, it will almost certainly cause problems.
They are EXACTLY the same. Same GPU, PSU, CPU, RAM, optical drive, HDD, both use on board sound, and exactly the same mobo. They
Out of curiosity, have you tried reducing the Sins in game video options?
Yeah that is one of the first things we tried.
Run memorytest 86+ not windows memory diagnostics. http://www.memtest.org/
Ok, lets try this again, which download should I get, there are about 50.
The problem is your running vista.
All the computers are using Vista, and there is only one computer with the problem :P
If you are comfortable swapping hardware and the like why can you not figure out memtest?
I know how to build computers, my friend downloaded the program and said he could not figure it out, he tried looking at the readme, however, it would only open on notepad and was in an awkward format to read.
And Ironclad/Stardock will not replace the cd if it is proven to work on a machine as you have stated
This is a separate copy of the game. And
Like I've said, if it were a hardware problem, would this not happen with the dozens of other games that are played on this computer? Sins is hardly the only game that is played with this computer. We have played LAN games with many other games with no problems. I find it hard to believe that Sins is the only game that would cause hardware to fail.
I guess when I get the chance next weekend I will swap parts between computers and isolate the problem, and if the problem continues then would that show it is a software problem?
We are using another computer that has the same hardware than the one we are having the problem with. Both are built identically, having the same PSU, CPU, GPU, RAM, etc. We have no problems with the other computer, one the one I have mentioned.
We are already using this driver
I know this sounds ignorant, but we couldn't figure it out.
We just ran the windows memory diagnostics. It found no errors.
Okay, this is really wierd...
what happens if you play the game in window mode?
It worked...however, when we tried to make sure this was the problem, we played in full screen, and it worked then also.????
Sounds like bad ram, I had a machine with a bad ram stick, would crash at random, sometimes not at all.
In this case, it is random to an extent, this problem only occurs in Sins, so it is not completely random. If it were truely
yes already reinstalled. Fans are working, as is the PSU, like i said, how could that be the problem, the computer runs for hours playing many other games. Even when the computer has first turned on, we try to play the game, yet there is the same problem.
