I kind of pass on campaigns myself as well so no big deal, but I could see how having some sort of campaign to back the nice fiction of this IP or at least make the tutorials a little more robust with story elements would have been a nice edition.

FYI - I posted this in another topic so I apologize for the repeat but it could be important to understand if you are going to create user content. Sometimes I'd still be looking at a black screen so I would Alt-Tab out of it and see a mini-dump report. Other times I really couldn't do anything. I updated to the latest drivers for both video and sound and even reinstalled but also made the mistake of putting the custom galaxies and bonus con

For those of you still getting this - I just started getting it recently and went to try and figure out why by retracing my steps. I found out for me it was a custom galaxy file that I created and put in the galaxy folder but the specific line item (in my case) that was causing the error was a string I added that I thought would change local militia settings to false. I had seen this earlier on the boards but it may have been from a beta version or not verified so the line item in pa

At first I actually found easy to even be a little tough mainly because I hadn't read the manual first or get enough out of the tutorials and felt a little overwhelmed. Back then it was the pirates that gave me the most trouble so I made it even a little easier by edited a map (Galaxy Forge) to not include pirates so I could get more familiar with the game without suffering the consequences too much. You have to play around a bit to find out what works for you, AI setting, game speed,

Yeah, I'm jumping back into this thread to add more to the conversation (which is a great one at that) and that is to say I'm happy and thankful for SD and IC and enjoying being a gamer in general. Honestly, I don't understand the "fanboi" mentality. I know it exists and people are passionate about some of the games they play or some of the systems they enjoy games on, but for me I'm just happy to be a gamer in this day and age and have so many options! I was talking about
Sorry if this has been answered already, I didnt read all the posts. The game seems to be setup where there are say four suns with like 10 planets around each sun? (I do not have the game, thinking about buying it) My question is, can a map be made with 20 stars and 2-3 planets around each star? Or 50 stars with planets only around 1/3rd of them, so there would be alot of planetless stars.
As far as I can tell you can make a tremendous variety o
All it means is that the HYPE and the inaccurate screenshots have helped. There's too much blind faith in some of these forums it's almost like people have been brainwashed into liking games? Is it because you've been following it for so long that you MUST like it to justify the time you've been waiting for it? It's not THAT good guys, I am baffled as to why people think this game is so awesome, it's not. It's actually boring/repetitive already.......... <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_7 src="h
The best honest advice I can give is to read the manual. You will figure out a way to play the game that fits your style.
I myself found that even after I read the manual I was still a little confused. Believe it or not I did 2 things that really helped out 1)Got active on these boards. I asked questions, sometimes redundant ones, I read other peoples questions and the answers to them, I shared my experience and sometimes got s

I posted this on Gamespot's players reviews and I thought I'd share it with the Sins community as well, for those of you who have time to read and maybe are on the fence with the game - enjoy (sorry it is a little wordy!).
At first I was kind of surprised there were still no official reviews on here or on GameRankings for this game because I wanted to see the critics take on it. Not that it would change my opinion because I already know the ups and downs and ins and outs of

Just to add to your expectations (oh and enjoy a full nights sleep tonight at least!) I thought the game would have less micro management than it does. Don't get me wrong, its not as bad as turned based games, and Ironclad has done a wonderful job minimizing the need for player management in most areas, I just find myself doing more than I thought I would do (especially later in the game when you have multiple planets... duh!). Maybe its because some of the things the AI does, like auto-placem

Also note the recent update on Sins v1.02 by Frogboy. They will be making some changes to Pirates if you want to keep them in your galaxies. [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=402&aid=175509"]Updates[/link] Later, ~JO Cool

I'm sure its in the manual, which I'll be reading tonight, but some of these stats have an anti-matter cost. Can someone explain that in a little more detail and how you gain it. I ran across a couple ship building warning messages that I didn't have enough anti-matter. At least I think it was building, maybe it was trying to use special features?!? Thanks, ~JO

Forgive me for jumping ahead of this thread because I didn't have time to read it all, I will go back tonight though - but what do WeightedNonIcePlanet, WeightedRandomPlanet, WeightedColonizablePlanet planets really mean. I understand the NonIce (other variations) Random, and Colonizable, but what exactly is "weighted". Thanks, ~JO

Question for the techies or Devs. I've upgraded my PC (in the mail I can't wait) but did the digital download option for purchasing this game. I was wondering because I couldn't find anything about this in the purchase confirmation or set up e-mail. How I go about installing it on the new computer. I'm sure I'd have to do an uninstall on the old one, not worried about that because that will just be a VoIP server or I'll give it away to family, but how do I make sure I get all my digital down

I'd like to second Chaintm's comment on thanking the Dev Team for not only a great game but also fostering this sense of community with being so actively involved on your boards. The industry needs more Devs like Ironclad - true gamers passionate at what they do, not just cranking out the next release of something. Later, ~JO
maybe i'm doing something wrong but cant make a phase line between them. any help/mod info would be good.
I haven't done it in-game yet because I know there is some research criteria or probably the need for multiple worm holes, but when your creating the connector between your wormhole and where you want it to take you, you can change the Phase Lane to Wormhole (I think, sorry I'm at work right now but I remember seeing the option and it creates a blue line instead of th
Also I find myself using the heck out of the black market, I agree with the Gamma suggestions about somehow getting the buy/selling of resources on the mainscreen at all times.
I'm going to try and read up more on this tonight, but what exactly are you doing on the black market if you don't mind me asking?!?
I'm getting owned hard, even after the tutorial. Where do you get a free capital ship? Because I start a game, build a captial ship factory, then don't see anything about a free ship, just see what they all cost, etc. I build the one that has the ability to colonize and by this time I'm out of credits soon enough. (Built all the mining, etc but never seem to get credits...).
Stiler - I think I was making the same mistake as you to start
