That depends on what you want to do. If you have money to burn, and can't think of anything else, try maxing out exploration. I never explore planets unless I have excess resources.
i don't have a clue what you're talking about. just random everything. there's so many things to do and so many ways to do them. even with techs alone. do you go high tech military or civilian or a bit of both. do you colonize or fight. do you turtle and go after later. there's so many different things and different ways to do those things, that i think it's the most replayable game ive ever tried.garrett
I guess that's what I disagree about. There are many tech
I'm curious as to how the fans feel about the lasting appeal of this game. In most “RTS’s” there are several viable strategies that actually change the way you play the game. Examples would be a rush to disrupt someone’s economy, or an early economic boon to try to gain the advantage later. In Sins, I haven’t seen too many different strategies. &n
If you want to get a feel for how different the Vasari can really play, try a "tech rush" to Returning Armada.
I just tried this in a single player game against a comp, and it worked well enough and was very unique. Could be worth a shot online.
That's because you learned to play Advent. Vasari are COMPLETELY different.
Please feel free to tell me whats different, or what i should be doing differently, at the start. They still need a cap ship along with some frigs in order to expand. Also, since their ships cost more they can't really quickly cap an ice / volcanic planet - meaning they have to look for astroids, desert, or terran planets - the latter of which al
was anyone else disappointed by PA's write up today? He just talked about some old game and how its graphics was good.
After doing really well with advent, I'm trying to play the Vasari. They don't seem that fun. For example, before I started I read some decent things about them. They're able to create their own phase lanes, making them move where they want to. They're able to fire missiles past shields, and can lower the credit cost of most things. When I tried to do these things in game, I found that the phase stabilizers were very deep into the tech trees, and cost quite a bit. They
Hey, I want my window key left alone (I often browse forums during the game)! If its a problem for you, get a keyboard with a windows key lock. Totally agree with this. I know you're having problems with the pirates guys but you don't have to hit your keyboard around like the angry German kid. Otherwise you shouldn't see windows popping up.
<
What exactly does culture do? If there is an enemy planet, with 3 possible phase lanes in it's gravity well, what happens when my culture has taken over 1, 2, and then all 3 of those lanes?
Technically "steam not being supported" shouldn't really be a factor here
You never know how a game will react to the overlay. For example, I bought CoD4 through Steam, however, I now have to have my Steam overlay disabled for all games, because CoD4's anti-cheat system detects the overlay as a cheat. Don't count on the overlay to work with any non-valve game.
how intitial is this intital response? I downloaded this game about 2 / 3 days ago. Went through the tuts, they didn't teach me much. Tried a single player game, got raped by pirates. I kept trying, and now I just destroyed an easy computer (and the pirate home world). Give it 2 or 3 days. It takes a while to learn how to establish, and when to expand to, planets. I'd also recommend reading some tips that are around on these forums.
Hawk brings up solid points. When people call the game slow, they're referring to the start-up time, or the time it takes to establish a steady flow of income.
please elaborate (explain further)
Ok, here's an example. Yesterday I joined a 2v2v2. About 50 minutes in, my partner has a high bounty on his head, so he disconnects. Of course, since this game is so slow, nothing really happened in this 50 mins. People scouted, some small skirmishes, etc. About 10 mins after my partner left, another person leaves. Now it's a 2v1v1 and the game is ruined. Total time wasted: little over an hour. Resources come in far too s
I like how the elitist fan base of this game can't read and comprehend someone's points without mocking him. 1 Yes - the game is too slow. That does not mean 'make it a fast game.' It means the game is too slow. 2. I have also had a problem with the pirates. They are a major annoyance and contribute to people disconnecting after the half hour mark, which means everyone in the game just wasted half an hour doing nothing but sit and wait for resources.
If I buy the game off this website, how is that handled? I very much enjoy Steam, which is a digital distribution system that is linked to an account. On steam, if I uninstall or delete a game, I can always download it again for no cost. Does Sins of a Solar Empire have a similar set up? What if I download the game, and uninstall it? Is there a limit to how many times I can download the game once I buy it online?
