The above mentioned games don't function on a p2p system for multiplayer; try any other RTS and you'll discover you have the same issues. NAT traversal and port forwarding is generally not an issue when you're connected to a central server. Though I must say that your tone certainly qualifies you as a troll, and the fact that you proudly proclaim your dedication to so many MMO's pretty much marks you as a moron too.
Sorry but I never had to do anything special to pla
Ironclad needs to get some tips from Blizzard Entertainment to manage multiplayer connections... No its routers getting more complicated and gamers getting less so thats all(and yes it is the router not the game causing these problems).
Which no other game is having a problem with. If all games had this issue for multiplayer, I would understand - but they do not. This is not an isolated problem either.
Oh, and the instructions in my guide "Networking and SINS" linked to on page 3 (POST #66) of the "stickied" thread "How to: see/connect-to/host Servers", is a great compliment to the information on www.portforward.com. I am of course always open to suggestions on how to make my guides even better. the Monk
Here is a suggestion: Make it work out of the box - suggestion for devs not you. Most other online games work out of the box and this one should too. It is great th
If you can't follow the instructions at portforward.com, you are an idiot, and I am happier not playing with you online If you opened all the ports and set exceptions and it's not working, YOU MISSED SOMETHING. Don't blame the devs for that. The game is set up no differently than any other peer-to-peer game (indeed, how COULD they make it different?).
What an a@@hole. I have never had a problem playing ANY game online - except for this one. I do not have a router, nor d

Game needs a rewrite of the AI if it is going to have any longevity. I am no expert by any means and I can now walk all over the AI playing hard and random medium size galaxy after just a handful of games. The worst part is knowing that you won but still having to slog it out for 3 more hours to finish it. Now I have not played multiplayer, which in my opinion does wonders in extending the life of any game. (Full disclosure, with the exception of Civ and EU3, no single player games c
One aspect of the present version of the game that drives me nuts is the warped reality that results in the ability to build a spaceship faster than it takes for one to be destroyed. Obviously, this isn't always the case, based on what sort of carnage is going on but it still ruins whatever tiny bit of immersion that exists that these are real empires going at each other rather than spawning Space Invaders that just keep regenerating as long as the

Vista64 4G RAM 8800GTX Cannot play the game on highest settings because of repeated crashes. Put the game on high settings and I get very few crashes (still some, but not that often).

The Stardock servers have more than enough bandwidth. I downloaded from them two days ago at 700Kb/s so no problems there. The more likely culprit is that there is a problem on the line between you and the servers, which is out of the control of Stardock. If you know the IP of the Stardock servers, you can do a tracert on the line and see where the issue is - but as of two days ago, it is not Stardoc'ks issue.

I dropped my Planets setting down from highest to high and it seemed to reduce this type of crash (where Vista pops up a screen saying the game has quit working). Now I get the game just freezing (I have to alt-tab out and end process). So I have dropped ALL settings down to High and will see if that works. I was trying to find a place to edit the interval for the autosave but haven't found it. I hate losing so much of the game when it crashes.
Does anyone know how the trade length is calculated? For instance, if I put 5 trade ports in one planet, do they all have the same trade length? How does it determine the trade length for each individual trade port and where it will trade to? I'd like to know how it determines this so I can exploit the trade ports to their maximum potential.
I am confused about this too. Once I build the trade port, do I need to do anything with it

You miss his point - in today's "modern day" ships are constantly on the move. But let us put realism aside because when it comes down to it, it is somewhat unimportant. I want ship movement because the current combat system looks like something out of the early nineties. All the ships stop on a dime and everyone just faces off and throws rocks at each other until one person falls down. I am not asking for capital ships that swoop and dodge, but the baseline frigates should at leas
its been clearly found to be an impulse concept, "moving ships" has not been existant in any major and succesful game I'm aware of (yes that includes homeworld), it has no "realism" value, and it certainly would only make gameplay more difficult (its irritating enough as it is when cap ships go flying through heavy defenses to try and do a 180) the idea of implementing it sounds cool, but its foolhardy in just about every respect. I have to agree with this. I can spend minutes looking at the different research trees trying to figure out which one is researching. And then later in the game when I have several queued up, I have no idea what order they are going in. Sometimes I bump up against my fleet capacity cap and would love to prioritize ship research. Now, I have to wade through lots of screens and cancel research. EDIT: Would be nice to move things around in the queue so that you can prioritize stuff if

Vista64 works really well for me. And besides, my XP doesn't use all of my 4G of RAM. I am of the opinion that you get Vista64 when you buy your next computer but that you do not upgrade any of your existing computers from XP.

I get random crashes to desktop in every game that I play. Sometimes it is 30 seconds in, other times I can play for an hour before it crashes. As a side note, I am a heavy gamer and play several other games for hours on end without any issues. Here is my setup: Vista 64bit E6600 4G RAM X-Fi Soundblaster 8800GTX I am playing the game with full graphics. Everything turned up, at the highest resolution. I am currently re-installing it on my XP partiti
