I find it curious that the people opposed to a single player campaign do so on the basis of the fact that they don't play the campaigns anyway. I guess the people who don't play multiplayer should object to the inclusion of multiplayer in the game. I know this is repeating what chrizzle said above, but he's dead on - why can't we have both. Note that most of the major game rankings and reviews either deducted for lack of a campaign or at least mentioned it in their negative comments on
I'm sure this has been said before but, here is how shield mitigation works, straight from the manual:Shield Mitigation - This is a special trait which all shields share due to the nature of how the protective barrier is formed. As a shield is assaulted, computer systems automatically adjust its harmonics to match that of the incoming weapon's fire. This has the effect of reducing all damage done to the shield by completely negating a certain percentage of the enemy weapon's attack. Once
That is a hell of a lot of micro for a game spanning so much territory.
That said, it doesn't reduce the effectiveness of prioritising targets manually - it reduces the effectiveness of focus firing. -Ok, well I don't see the difference.
Wait...strategy gamewants to reduce the effectiveness of prioritizing targets manually. W.T.F.
If that is the case, then focus firing is counter productive?
I don't know if that is right, because even ships that I am not currently targeting have extremely high mitigation rates.
Why is the CPU at 74% and mine is only 15% with all tech researched? How does one increase it? This Advent player I am fighting now has extremely high mitigation and I can barely damage him, though my tech is maxed and I have a good mixed fleet, mine is only like 15%. What am I doing wrong? Could someone please explain? Thanks!
I bought the game today and was utterly disappointed to find no campaign. I'm a rare breed who doesnt get into multiplayer.
I am in the same boat, sir.
I was playing against normal ai in my last game, and I defeated the enemy fleet which was bigger than my own fleet. I didn't even have any support units(except one cap ship). What I did was make a frigate factory near the battle, and set a rally point to the place we were fighting. So I was gaining units while I was losing them.
While that may indeed work, it hardly what one would call a viable strategy unless you are sitting on a
Who says they cannot have video to tell the story instead of text?
There must be an explanation. Do you have your military upgrades? Or did you focus only on economy? If his fleet is fully upgraded and yours is not that would explain the one sided fight.
Yes, defenses need to be improved BIG time to make this a tactical battle at all. I agree with the above post that the battles are a cluster F. My biggest concern is the inablity to make a real push on someone's planet when holding more than just 2 fronts. Maybe i'm not getting the game right, but i haven't finished a game yet, and i've but almost 20 hours into the game so far. I always get to a point where there is just too many choke points for me to cover, i can't
Good idea.
I don't even begin to know where to start. Is the rest of your computer as ancient as the graphics card?
Advent are weak if you don't know how to combine their incredibly combinable and easily intuitive ships. But then again, if you don't know how to do that, you should b playing a tank rush, not this gem.
By all means, educate us o' great one. I grovel before your infinite wisdom and knowledge of a game that has been out for less then a week. I beg forgiveness for my lack of skill. I prostrate myself before the almighty knowledge wh
I have having a similar problem right now with my ex-ally's Metal Extractors. I cannot target them. =(
Yes, I dislike the change also, especially since it doesn't appear to be remappable.
Playing as Advent is probably more the reason you got killed. It's the hardest of the three factions to play, and until late game (level 6+), their cap ships are weaker then everyone else's. Cap ship cost is fine imho.
Winning isn't very eventful I will give you that. I wish a little cutscene played or something, like when you win in one of the Total War games.
At my gamestop, I was the only one who preordered it, and so they only got one, which was mine. When I went to pick it up the guy hadn't even unboxed it yet, and had to dig to find it in a box full of other crap. I asked if I could go ahead and buy another one for a friend of mine who was at work and he told me he didn't get any more, because I was the only person to preorder. So the moral is, if you want a game, pre-order it.
Good positive feedback.
Thanks for all the replies! Keep em coming!
What annoyed me was that the AI likes to play hide-and-seek sometimes. For example they decide to attack my planet with a force (siege frigates, grr), but meet resistance (my fleet waiting to crush them). They decide to turn tails and run back to where they came from and I follow. What happens next is they immediately change course for my planet again and I end up uselessly chasing them through the jump lane and back. Only way to stop that f
