I'm stationed in overseas in Japan, could this be a possible reason why Impluse cannot login and retrieve data for downloading the new patch? I have all current SP1 udpates too

Thank You, it is oh so frustrating when you put SO much time into a game only to get fudged constantly. *down on knees* PLEASE DEVS!!! HELP!!!!

When i say "vulnerable flanks" btw, i mean choke points, planets with more than 1 avenue of approach, which is usally AT lease 2, one on each side of my territory

Ok i see guys making suggestions that hangars and turrets will fend off an attack while you get your fleet back to help out the planet, or some have even suggested that it will fend of ANY attack. I call BS on this, in my past 2 games, normal AI (random) on a medium map, by about the 5th hour, two or all AI's are allied together and i get attacked by no less than 2 big fleets on a forward planet. OK that's fine, just fall back, regroup and take them out with a better, more powerful fleet right?

"Oh, and another suggestion... Put a button in the icon menu of stations and ships to allow you to scrap them. " -At the bottom of the the picture of the item you have selected in the middle of the screen there is a little tab for scuttle. That is shown to you in the tutorial.

Yes, defenses need to be improved BIG time to make this a tactical battle at all. I agree with the above post that the battles are a cluster F. My biggest concern is the inablity to make a real push on someone's planet when holding more than just 2 fronts. Maybe i'm not getting the game right, but i haven't finished a game yet, and i've but almost 20 hours into the game so far. I always get to a point where there is just too many choke points for me to cover, i can't rely on defense to hold up

"Add a domination victory condition. If you and your allies control more than say 70% of the planets then a countdown is initiated. If the opponents fail to reduce you below 70% control before that countdown reaches 0 then it's game over." YES! that would be outstanding, kinda like COH VP, it gives the computer an objective too, i still cant get past normal AI with a large map because the AI eventually gangs up on me and i'm fighting a defensive war the entire time. Maybe i just suck, b

I haven't quit yet, i'm approaching 9 hours on the 4 vs FFA and i KNOW i can make some progress, it's just very frustrating because as soon as i send in an attack fleet i get bum rushed by the other AI, so i'm assuming they are all allied because they're not fighting each other anymore.

I think that the AI constantly retreating makes it very hard to make tactical choices. Which fleet to send to wich planet and which time, cause you know you had a chance, but now he ran away and woot, there comes a freaking smash all fleet from another player. This is the game im playing right now, basically all the AI vs ME. Annoying cause it's basically a stalemate. "As I said in another thread, I can't remember a single strategy game which has an invulerable travel system and no mean

I think that when you start a new singleplayer, you should be at 50% diplomacy with the AI, or something other than 0. I'm in a 4 player FFA with the AI and about 7 hours into it and i'm fighting all 3. It's pretty much a stale-mate. What to do?

I don't understand the "long trade route", I know you have to have 2 posts, do only the first 2 posts matter? are those the 'Bracket' posts for the route? Can somone explain to me how the refinery works as well? Finally, i really wish there was an ablity to scuttle buildings!

Well i can say this much, with more the 2 players in a game, i hardly have the time to sit back on watch the ships float. Do you have to build a trade Port at every planet for the "long trade route?"

Im a new player too, and i agree with pretty much everything you said. I just stated (like 3 hours ago =P) a new map, random medium with 4 players!!! Wow have i been busy! On normal, the AI really keeps you on your toes, so step up the diffculty for some real action. I've found that getting your culture spread is so very important with games of more than 2 players, it's amazing how much that can hurt your alliegance and ultimately, credit income. As for your comment about defe

I agree about the turtling. Believe me, been there done that on so many other games. I will have to experiment on the defensive placement for my turrets, as of now i've been using autobuild (one less thing to worry about while trying to learn to crawl, then run a marathon) Thanks for the welcome, Hopefully I can jump into an online game and get schooled. Best way to learn!

Well, I must say that as I have followed the forums now for about a week and played for about 10 hours, I am hooked on this game. Thank you devs for thinking outside of the box. The gameplay focus is revolutionary IMO, up there with Company of Heores (of which i have played since it's release years ago). As such, there seems to be a divide in the community of us noobies. I keep seeing people comment on how slow they feel the game is, or the AI rushing them with frigates or the Pirates, lord t

As far as i know, there is only ONE stationary defense and i think there in lies the problem. Since there are upgrades to nukes in the tech. tree then there should be an anti nuke option for base defense. Mind you, it obviously can't be that powerfull, but since it will give you the extra time to mop up his flanks with your other frigates and Cap. it will help to stay off that first rush. Also, i think using the choke points on in the system and having that advanced warning is imperative!! This

Hello, Im a new player, just started the account today. This is my first game of this sort, i DID play HW2 a long time ago and i have to say that this is much more engrossing than homeworld ever could be. I've been playing my first single player for about 5 hours, and i really didnt think that the tutorials were bad at all. I'm an avid Company of Heores fan and even a FPS constant player, so this level of detail in the fundamentals of gameplay are sometimes smothering. But, I did
