For being the top this and top that game of 2008 I hope to see a LOT more patches commin out within the next few months. Its a good start for a game and I fully understand why they released it... But for a 4x it needs more loving. The AI is pretty terrible right now so i'm glad to see improvements on that... The difficulty to actually WIN is retarded. It takes WAY too long... I've never actually finished a big game... It gets to the point where I cannot possibly lose... and

In the end, the real truth about THIS topic in THIS thread is... Titan Quest was NOT a good game, it was NOT enjoyable... and the devs did a TERRIBLE job with copy protection (which the tread states screwed them in the end). Look at Blizzard... They are a PRIME and PERFECT example of how the world works... People don't pirate Warcraft 3 (for the most part) or starcraft, or diablo 2... why? Because the REAL fun and enjoyment of the game is ONLINE play which requires
Achievements mean less (to me at least) when they aren't stored on a global server thats secure... Like Xbox for example. I suppose the "single player" game could be considered the achievements... as the only other "single player" we have is skirmish vs AI. Anyway, some pretty crazy ppl to try and get them all... I noticed a few required some.. not so fun games.
Selling so many copies means they should have more funding to IMPROVE the game even more... Look at WC3... HELL of a game.. and its still going strong (Mostly from DOTA... A Community Mod). I hope they continue to patch/update this game often for the next few months to bring it up to speed (and make it nearly perfect)... And then allow the modding community to create exactly what the devs failed to provide in content!
20+ usable planets per solar system is pretty crazy... I know ppl have brought this up before, and I feel like its a very important "fact" that needs addressing. A 4x galactic conquest game could consist of 100's of star systems (or at lest 10-20 in smaller games). Look at our own solar system... When related to Sins... Mercury, Earth, Mars, Uranus, and maybe Pluto (not counting any moons) are the only usable planets (as whats currently usable in Sins). So
So what about things like the pirates, the black market, culture? Where do those things fit into warcraft 3? And how does Warcraft have any more building variety? it has 12-17 buildings per race, and that's including upgrades to the main building. Each Sins race has 8 logistics structures, 6 tactical structures, and 2 extractors, so they've got 16 building types per race. seems pretty even to me. If you look at the WC3 research tree, it looks like the warfare/military/hostility tree. Sins
I'm glad to see this comminuty is a lot more mature than most. Rather than Bash what I say... or 100% agree with it.. everyone gives feedback based on their own opinions... None replied with "Can I have your stuff?" yet... which is so nice!
I guess I didn't make it clear in my OP... however this game does NOT appear to have more depth than a standard RTS. Now don't get me wrong... I bought this game knowing what it was and enjoyed the first several hours of it! I'm not trying to say one game is better or worse than it. I'm not trying to trash talk Sins. I'm just trying to help people see "the light" and possibly the develpers... If nothing else maybe gather some groups for mods to fix the short-comings. Yes, th
Is this a joke? Games already take 4-6 hours if you're LUCKY... My roommate and I have only atually played 2 games.. first one crashed on us (and loading it didn't fix...) Second game.. after 4 hours we controlled 1 of 5 star systems.... and.. had everything researched... Sure we could have played the same bullshit and won the other 4 systems... but why? The only way to make this game take "longer" is if you add more content.. the existing content isn't enough
It seems like they've done a great job with "size" of the world/map players are given... 100+ planets and 5+ stars is pretty large. But the "content" is very limited. Upgrades are pretty standard and simple... No different than any other standard RTS (Weapon/armor upgrades).. And new units. Space seems pretty boring... Very limited number of planet types... just about ALL of which can be colonized... no moons... Spatial anomalies are pretty much non existent...</P
Problems in this game are aweful AI... making singleplayer more annoyance than anything else. Multiplayer isn't an option for almost anyone with a real life... the pretend 4x factor of this game makes it take 4x longer than any other normal RTS... but it has the same features as most RTS. There are just as many units and nearly as many "useful" upgrade options in say... Warcraft 3... as Sins... yet unit control actually matters in WC3... While in Sins you basically just sit bac
I've played a number of games both solo and with my roommate... And we've both noticed the same major issues. The AI in Sins is down right stupid... Several very simple "facts" are present in all actions by the AI. The AI does two things in this game... 1) Runs from larger fleets... and continues to run even if the AI is down to a single home planet... it will not defend... Just run. This is not "strategy" or "tactics" its just lazy programming... The A
Rhelamos - Camo makes no sense... while the "reality" of sins is nearly non existant... people don't track objects in space with "visual" scans... Different types of sensor networks are employed... Detecting heat, energy, reflection (radar)... The OP was right about saying it makes no sense... But the idea of modding visuals in this game is still a great idea and I hope He and others continue to do it. I hope others start work on new model paces for future races...
Sounds like a glitch to me... if holding "shift" allows it... Not to mention there is no reason a spec should be able to influence the game in any way shape or form.
https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=402&aid=176434#1457519 I have a rather large posting up with ideas and a lot of ppl seem to agree!
I'm glad to see a lot of ppl agree with me... In all honesty i'm not looking for "my" ideas to be added... But SOMETHING needs to be done... this game is a GREAT start... however it takes SO long to finish a single star match (let alone multi-star). Few people have that much time (multiplayer is even worse when you have to get multiple people who can invest SEVERAL hours into a single game. While 4X does require much more time invested than normal RTS... There is a reason no one plays
Sadly... I have to agree... I have played 3 games with my roommate (one allied.. and two in FFA format). A few things I should note: 1) I have never lost a game... No i'm not godly... its just EASY. The only "difficulty" in the game is the massive fleets of siege that jump in and out of systems, destroy planets, and run away. They're annoying but easy enough to deal with. 2) I have never actually finished a game... We crashed out over and over during multiplayer in o
Victory Conditions – New Options! Several issues I have seen in my own games (and from posts by other players) include the length of time it can take to win or "finish" a game. Currently in games vs the computer you must chase their fleet between systems sometimes endlessly in order to slowly destroy them 1-2 ships at a time. EVEN after having control of most every system in the game… the AI can still run around and survive for lengthy amounts of time. Also, a l
*sigh* I just assumed a game like this would attract less of those types. The "pop" culture type games... Halo for example... or WoW... are so hugly popular and easy to play that any douche or troll can participate. I just expected a more mature group with this one. And yeah, I found the PDF in the game folder after having searched around a bit. Sadly I remember having seen a posting asking or (offering) the manual for download so I assumed thats where you got it from... P
Simple Solution: Multiple Victory Options... Currently you just have to destroy everything to win... They should have options like Civilization... "Space Race Victory" "Artifact Vistory" "Control Point Victory" "Conquest Victory" "Control % Victory" And so on... Each of these options would be selected at the start of the game... For those ppl who want a 12 hour 5+ star system game that never ends... they can select conquest v
I found it, thanks. And I don't have a "manual" I got the game online... Though I will probably locate an online manual sometime... maybe. Whats with the trolls and hostile bullshit i'm seeing on this forum? For example I see people asking for ship movement during combat... Even if it plays ZERO role in how the combat actually plays out... it would make the game much more "pretty" for lack of a better word. I mean, my roommate walks in and asks some questions about the game.
I'm sure the solution to this will seem obvious once I find it however... After my first or second game, buildings have begun being placed automatically for me. I am not allowed to actually pick the location any longer. This is quite annoying and I have scanned through most of the in-game option menus and see nothing to change auto-placement back to the way it was.
