I turned off the one mod and still hit the 2gb limit in about 90 minutes after resuming my saved game. I turned down some detail from highest to high and was able to finish the 50 planet map. The memory utilization sat around 1.4-1.5gb with the settings turned down. I'm slightly concerned about trying a larger map due to the memory utilizations on a mere 50 planet map.

That explanation makes sense regarding the different bit versions. I believe all the games that I've seen have both versions were client-server based. I am going to try disabling the one mod that I have turned on (volumetric explosions) and see what that does. I was playing a 5 star, 50 planet game of entrenchment. I was running with all the graphics options up as well as a volumetric explosions mod to improve the graphics of the weapons and explosions. If I load my saved game, it hits the limit in about an hour. Task manager reports the game process at 1.8gb of ram. Truth be told, why have the high-res options, if there is a limitation imposed by the 32-bit application? Or, why not make two versions of the executable for 32

I've done some forum searching but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer to this question. I am hitting the 2gb limit on the sins process in my current game. (It probably has to do with running everything at the highest setting) Current system: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Core i7 940 12gb ram EVGA GTX295
