Friend and I can't join each other's game? in Technical Sins Forums

it says 'Your Game Data differs from that of the Host's' we both after a month break came back today and downloaded the new update, I even reinstalled it after the initial trouble but it still says that? the only difference I can think of is I have the retail version of the game and he did the digital download of it but we've played a ton together before without any issue
