I can't name any maps off the top of my head, but I do suggest that you play a 2v2 with one AI ally and locked teams. Having a partner to watch your back is nice when you're still learning the ropes, and it can be instructive to watch how the AI plays.
I admit i've just played on normal difficulty so far, but all the ai ever did in those games was build massive fleets... to have them retreat at the first sight of an enemy fleet every single time.
It really depends. They'll almost always retreat if their capital ships are taking a beating, or if they've lost too many ships to accomplish their goal. Other times I've seen them tenaciously fight to the bitter end for a key objective, such as capturing a critical choke point in
And the subtitle is "Graphics wise". I compared the graphics, nothing more
You really can't compare things like graphics without taking genre into account. A space sim that only has to show a few ships at a time will obviously be able to have more highly detailed ships than an RTS where there can easily be hundreds of ships on screen at once. All other things being equal, if Sins had graphics as highly detailed as Eve's, it would very probably be unplayable even on a bleedin
how about a timer? when last planet is lost you have say... 5, 10, or 15 minutes to colonize something or you loose.
A timer is an excellent idea, but it needs to be something reasonably short. 5-minutes sounds about right. If the player is not able to colonize a new planet within that amount of time then there's a good chance he won't be able to even with more time.
in the last game the other guy refused to quit after his partner got destroyed, and set his captial ship to phase around the universe, just to troll us on a useless hunt when we already had every planet in the game.
This reminds of me the infamous game sore losers would play in StarCraft called "Hide the depot."
It would be cool if a meteor storm would bombard your planet once in a while, maybe like once ever 100 times you play the game. I remember somebody posted something about adding moons to the game, imagine destroying the moon and the debris bombards the planet or drift out in space and hit another planet.
Random elements in strategy games really suck.

Now this is funny. Just last night [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=402&aid=177440"]I started a thread[/link] wondering if the AI ever attacked each other since it seemed they all did nothing but attack me!
- The planetary defense cannon things seem usless. I mean your limited on them being close to the planet. I mean the one use I would have for them would be to set them near the lane entry points to take out scout ships etc....I just think they are under utilized in the mechanics of the game or something.
I disagree with this. I've found three or four of them placed close together near my planet to be invaluable in slowing down attackers and giving me enough time to bring in a

I played a 4 FFA on a medium random map with normal resources, slow research, and slow speed. Actually made for a very enjoyable game I thought.
They tend to band together in the face of a all powerfull foe.
Well, that's flattering of you to say so, but I suspect it's a more a case of they're picking the easiest target to get out of the way first. :p

I don't much care for 1up after their Neverwinter Nights 2 review fiasco, where they picked a reviewer who openly disliked the D&D rule set and bashed the game because of it. They then pulled his review and replaced it with one that wasn't any more credible.

I'm in the middle of a 4 player FFA with locked teams, and if I didn't know any better, I'd swear the AI was coordinating attacks against me. I mean, it's like one attack after another, first on one flank then on another. I'm spending so much time regrouping after each attack that I barely have any time to go on the offensive myself. Just feels like I have a target on my back or something. Loving the game, but man that AI is ruthless.
still wouldnt prevent a host to leave without getting a lose.
No solution will be immune to abuse. Even on Battle.net, "win trading" was a popular way to artificially boost one's ranking. The best that can be hoped for is to mitigate instances of abuse without being overly restrictive to legitimate players.

Thank you for your response. So does the game need to be actived every time you install it in the future, or is it a one time deal, and any future installs from the back-up will not need to be activated? Basically, I'm wondering how restrictive Stardock's digital delivery policy is.
I disagree, if you are going to have a pick up from save ability, how can you have disconnects counting as losses, putting in that feature will kill being able to play the game in stages, because if you play a game over the course of 4 days, then you will have 3 disconnects and a loss/win, so it is an untrue view. would take a major recode to fix that and to still be able to drop from a game and pick it up later I believe? but I do agree, people who drop when they have o

The minidump files can be found in: C:\Documents and Settings\"your name"\Local Settings\Temp\Sins Dump Replace "your name" with, well, your name. :) Anyway, I've had a few crashes, too, and sent an email to Ironclad with the necessary information.
I'm disappointed that my automatic shut-off idea has been ignored. Seriously, I can't even start playing because I'm scared I won't be able to stop until what is technically the next morning.
That might be a little abrupt, to have your game suddenly quit, especially if you're in the middle of something. However, they could borrow a feature from CivIV: an on-screen clock with alarm. Knowing how addictive the Civilization games can be, I actually laughed when I read about that
