It's long-term support like this that makes a big fan of Stardock.

If you have any mods installed, it would be advisable to deactivate them.
Yes, that does help. Thank you. I assume the reason they're divided up like that is for multiplayer.
I bought the two Sins expansions over the weekend and just assumed that they would be seamlessly integrated into the base game like a traditional expansion, so I was a little surprised to see that the main Sins menu has the option to play either Entrenchment or Diplomacy. Do we have to choose which features we want from game to game, or is there a way to play with all features from both expansions available?
also it gave ironclad a very bad reputation.
Heh... I don't think so. About the only place I see anybody saying anything bad about Stardock, IronClad, or Sins is in these forums. Outside of these forums, I've seen almost nothing but unanimous praise for the companies and the game. Wanna know what bad support is all about? Give Flagship Studios and Hellgate: London a look.
It could just be that the majority of people play Sins as a single player game. I, personally, have little interest in online play, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Bah, where's the edit feature? ;p [link="http://www.picupload.net/s-3b910645b06a31a10c0762177ae50127-png.php"]Link to the full image[/link]
Why would a corporation pay a small fortune to acquire a very successful company, and then run it into the ground ?
Ask EA. They have a long history of doing exactly that.
Heya -- just came to my attention that the CrossOver guys have setup a separate "games" group, and among their mentioned games...http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/group/?app_id=4030Sins! It's not officially supported, but it's been tested to at least run, so it might be worth installing the demo to give it a shot. Not going to do it myself (like I really need Sins installed on the same OS I'm trying to get work done on ), but I'm definitely curious how it goes for others.
I go camping with my friends, nearly every year. These camping trips can and do take more than ten days. And yes, we are not anywhere near an internet connection. This year, for instance, we're going to Yellowstone National Park for two weeks. This sort of copy protection seems to scream to me "Don't go camping or you'll be sorry." I suppose I could leave my computer on for days at a time, but that's an awful waste of power. Ugh.
Dude, you take your laptop [i
Rule of thumb: If developers want to give an ETA then they'll give an ETA. If they haven't given one it's because they don't want to, and asking won't change that.
Think about all the "too much fun" you could have with the dozens of millions EA or Microsoft could pour into your personal bank account.
Is that how you think it works? Rather, large companies have this nasty habit of bleeding their acquisitions dry and then quietly closing their doors a year or two later.
Remember the days of Freelancer and Fable? Remember how we were promised a ton of things when they came out... Then Microsoft stepped in and made them what they are today.
I don't know about Freelancer, but in the case of Fable, I'd say Peter Molyneux deserves the blame for that. Ever since the Black & White fiasco, he has earned himself a reputation for over-promising and under-delivering.
People love Steam for some reason...
For some reason? I thought it was pretty obvious: 1) It's run by one of the industry's most respected developers 2) It has a huge selection of games, many sold at bargain prices 3) It's easy to use, and it just works Still, glad to hear competition is on the way. That's always a good thing.
Hmmm... not sure what to think of this one. I've really come to respect Stardock as a publisher, but Gas Powered Games really screwed a bunch of folks over on Supreme Commander that they were placed on my "Never buy" list. Basically, their audio code didn't work properly with Creative audio cards resulting in as much as a 50% reduction in performance. Their solution? "We have no intention of fixing this. Use on-board sound instead." Yeah, that kinda pissed me off. So good luck to
I don't know about online play, but I'd suggest playing a 2v2 with AI using fixed teams. That way you have someone to watch your back, and you have can watch your AI partner and get some tips on what you should be doing. Also, don't forget that you can pause the game at any time, giving you all the time you need to read descriptions, study build trees, etc. Give it two or three games and you should start to feel pretty comfortable with it.
I really dislike it when people describe mods as "the way the game should have been". Personally, I like the game just as it is out of the box. The mods are nice if you want 'em (I use Balknight's graphics mod) but to say it's how the game "should have been" is a bit arrogant if you ask me.
I don't think that's what he's asking for. In the last paragraph of the OP he says: I wouldn't mind playing on smaller maps or with other limited functionality as long as I am sure that I can actually finish my game! His point, imo is that by limiting the demo to 90 minutes (per game) ppl won't be able to experience some of the late game goodness of SoaSE.
First of all, 90-minutes on a small map actually allows you a good opportunity to see a lot that Sins ha
I'd love to bribe the AI with credits into attacking another AI while not being allied to any of them (GC2 Drath style ).
That's essentially the role the pirates fill.
He's stating his opinion and didn't personally attack any of you...
Eh, he didn't exactly get off on the right foot when he preemptively labeled anybody who dared to disagree with him a "fanboi".
He knew he was going to get your overreactions for his comments.
Don't you think that was the idea? It's classic troll behavior: throw out a few inflammatory remarks as bait and then sit back and wait for the fish to start nipping at the hook. He
So let me see if I got this right: The OP basically wants a free game. Dude, do you even understand the point of a demo?
The OP looks like a strange sort of free-form poetry.
Or perhaps all spectators could have a delay of 30-seconds. Of course that means a losing player would have to stare at the defeat screen for half-a-minute if he wanted to observe the rest of the game, but it would effectively make it impossible for them to provide free intel for their former allies.
I've always appreciated StarCraft, but I've enjoyed other RTS games more, such as Age of Empire 2 which I think is of the finest in the genre, and now Sins of a Solar Empire which is distinct enough in its own right that it's not directly competing with the StarCraft's of the market.
