As far as making a planet uninhabitable? Doesn't the novalith cannon do this for a short time with its radiation debuff. Maybe it would be possible to extend the duration of the debuff so that it effectively lasts forever. While it might not be possible to change the textures on a planet mid-game, perhaps it would be possible to have have some kind of effect animation (like the novalith cannon impact), that lasts effectively for the rest of the match. I'm just guessing though

Group attacking is probably something that should be added. Its been a standard RTS command for ages. I remember using it a lot in Starcraft. Something simple such as pressing "A" and then dragging a box around the targets.
Awesome mod Bailknight. The difference between vanilla Sins effects and your effects is amazing. Really adds a lot to the game.
Unlikely, but I think you'll find a lot of ideas from this mod incorporated in other various ones. Therax was able to implement a lot of stuff that took others a while, I'm using his mine code as sort of an inspiration for my own.
ah darn. Some of his ideas and implementation sounded really good. Such as ships able to launch missiles that could be shot down by point defense mounts on other ships before reaching their targets. Also looked like he implemented supply ship
Any updates to this mod available? It looks really interesting but doesn't work at all with live 1.02 version Sins.
(1) Single player campaign (2) Random events (giant space worms, plagues, stock market booms, ancient ships located, etc.) (2) "closed" phase lanes (like the closed warp points in David Weber's novel In Death Ground)... basically phase lanes that you can only see and use from one direction until you see someone come out of the hidden end. (3) More varied planet types. (4) Super-capital class starships. (5) starbases that can be placed in neutral territory (grav wells with no
That was the problem. I still had my fleet selected so when I went into cinematic mode all the ship icons were still visible. Unselecting the fleet solved this. Thanks for the help everyone.
Hm. I guess I'll take a look at that. I'm a bit surprised cinematic mode toggle doesn't get rid of the unit icons when zoomed in. I do want to see the icons most of the time and when zoomed out. However, I just want the ability to easily toggle the icons on and off so I can watch the battle. Guess the game doesn't have this option.
No, I'm not talking about the icons on the left side of the screen. I'm talking about the little icons that hover above each ship's graphic. Nothing seems to remove them.
How do I turn off unit icons so I can watch the special effects during battles without them in the way? Toggling cinematic mode turns off the fleet icon, gravity well circle and phase lanes, but the ship icons stay and with a large fleet get quite distracting. I couldn't find a hotkey or control to allow me to temporarily turn them off.
