I think this was addressed in 1.02 when they added what ship is good vs what on the infocard? Also, try limiting the AI to one and making it an easy fortifier. I know my first game vs an easy ai lasted some 3 hours and 30 minutes before I killed it, on a tiny map.

Set the fleet's engagement range lower and their formation tighter, both accessible via the fleet tactics window.
There's no functional use for this at the moment, with 20 planets and 40 workers, you're not going to want to be building something on every planet at all times and the queue system for building is nice enough as is - though one thing I'd like to see is how many logistic slots a planet has available at a glance.
Need 4 more for the 11th, 3 more for the 18th.
It's how many meaningful actions you have taken (such as selecting a fleet and moving it, so yes it is micro related)

This game is much deeper than your typical RTS and it takes a lot longer than your typical RTS, don't charge into buying it if you're expecting 5-30 minute CNC games or you will be disappointed. That said, this game is one of the best I have ever played. Ironclad is an awesome company :D
You can use it on any capital ship after one of your capitals have died. I used it yesterday to bonk a level 2 rapture to level 7 with 1 click.
I'm intending to start up a decent sized FFA at 8pm EST on monday 2/18/08, I'm looking for 4-6 more people to fill the slots - If you do not have a considerable chunk of time to devote to this particular game please do not offer to come. The point of this organized game is to be able to play reliably with a group of people and should the game exceed the first day, pick up at a later date. The current intended game time to let this game run is about 4-5 hours, then we'll proceed at late
I too have my DMZ enabled when hosting, it gives me the same message and anyone can join my game - just because it gives you the message doesnt mean no one can join. Host the game and give it 5 minutes, people join new games fairly quickly (if they're reasonably named and have a decent name). I am fairly confident that if you have your DMZ open you can host minus some other variables like software firewalls.
Read kryo's post, one of the effects of the ability is to disable abilities, not your frigate's abilities are disabled.
What I tend to do with fleets is include the whole lot of ships I intend to use, if I have some ships I want to order seperately inside the fleet I'd either just use the alt-click feature to select all units of that type or select what I want to and assign it to a control group (ctrl 1-9)
100% agree with manshooter. The game is fine as is, but these changes would make it more fun and interesting. "Oh shit" moments tend to be some of the best moments.
Advent. Played my first game as them and they're so impressive I can't bring myself to play the other two races.
