So I always liked this game and the whole traveling from planet to planet through the phase lanes but it never really made much sense on the maps. A solar system with 20 planets and a dozen asteroid belts? I had the thought that instead of each point in space being a planet each point should be a solar system instead. It could have varying amounts of planets and asteroid belts etc. You could even go into having different star types with different effects. Binary systems

The ships might be more expensive but they are more powerful to balance it out. Its not like you are making ships that are twice as expensive as other races but equally as powerful. That can be both a good thing and a bad thing depending on how you look at it. In the end its just preference. As far as economy is concerned I never have any problems with vasari. They can research both metal and crystal with one tech which ultimately saves you money. Generally i end up with far more metal

If it is your first time playing turn off pirates. The computer can and will set up a bounty on you and attack at the same time as the pirates. Took me 2 games to figure out how to use pirates correctly and then I just turned them off because they are annoying. Other than that i always play on hard vs many ffa opponents and I never had any real problem. The computer still tends to gang up sometimes but it shouldn't something you are unable to counter. You should be able to see them comi
