I had this issue with both the 169.25 and 169.28 drivers. It was solved when I updated to the 173.65 beta drivers found here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1846 I'm using a GeForce 7950GT on Vista 32-bit.

Same problem here. It seems to be caused by attempting to scroll the Empire window while the game is paused. SoaSE v1.02 (happened in 1.01 also) Vista Ultimate 32-Bit (fully patched) Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 3GB RAM nVidia GeForce 7950GT 1600x1200 res, highest graphics settings.
Have you played Star Wars Empire At War? If so, I would say that it's most similar to the space game from that. Or, Civilization in space...in realtime.
Start the game, hit the Download Update button.
If you have not installed this hotfix, you should do so: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105 It specifically addresses the issue of video RAM usage as its mapped to regular RAM. 32-bit and 64-bit versions are both provided. I just wanted to say I went back through the configurable keyboard shortcuts in the game and this one definitely is not listed in there. Thanks again for those who answered!
THANK YOU! =D

How do you move your ships on the Z-axis? I tried briefly and couldn't figure it out.
This is the type of thing that I LOVE to see from publishers (and of course the developers). I'm tired of seeing paying customers treated like criminals while being the more unscrupulous are able to enjoy games without usage restriction. I just ordered the game for pickup from a nearby Best Buy, and am going to go pick it up as soon as traffic clears!
