With all of the wonderful ideas here the "starting game" options tree is going to be pretty impressive. Probably going to have a page that leads to second pages (SOSE Basis, SOSE Expanded, SOSE PRO) as examples. I wonder if the Full Monte' with all of the economic and alternatives strategic options proposed could be more than a single player game?

Since all of my wonderful ideas I have in another thread have already been covered here, I will toss one in I have not yet seen. An optional game where you already have your empire (as in you have all of the planets) and have to maintain it. You have to deal with rebellion and external invasion threats along with corruption and political indecision. Of course as you loose worlds you loose funds making it hard to keep the fleet going. Shoot maybe you ought to have a economic option t
I tend to agree with CyberMage (although I wish the best for "the Ironclad and Stardock Grand Poobahs" to grow into a Blizzard). I was until SOSE, a RTW addict. Since SOSE's arrival I have lost MANY evening hours with it. However, of late when I get to the "tipping point" (i.e. victory is inevitable) I turn it off and going back to my RTW campaign. I too want more politics and economics. I want to be winning the war and then have my funding restricted because the government decides that too
With a grand total of three games to my name, I have been very successful with massed fires against individual cap ships. Usually after two of them explode the AI will break and run. However if the battles are taking place early before I have transitioned to cruisers, I have had opportunity to have to run myself as the AI stripped away my frigate cover before I could get favorable odds. I am an advocate of focused cap killing, at least against the AI.
I have to agree with BigBadB. Have played a lot of RTS and Strat games and while I have only had time to play Sins a couple of times the subtlety of the game is wonderfully refreshing. The nuiances that 'Levelheaded' mentions is what will make this game a classic. I do like the fact that the engine will let computer commanded forces elect to run to fight another day.
Love it! Finally I can put my tired HW series into retirement.
